SCHOOL SUPPLIES FUNDRAISER FOR BRITON COMMUNITY SCHOOL IN NAIROBI - WEEK OF NOV 12th
Greenwich High School 11th grader Hannah Viney is looking for some support from the Riverside School Community for her community service project. She is organizing a fundraiser to collect school supplies for a school in need in Kenya. Over Thanksgiving she will be traveling to Africa with the school supplies for the Briton Community School which is located in a slum called Mkuru wa Njenga in Nairobi.  The school would like pens, writing pads (notebooks), erasers, sharpeners, dusters, play and learn games, chalk and crayons.  Any donations welcome - totally voluntary of course!  A plastic bin will be placed in the front entrance of the school from Monday, November 12 - Friday, November 16.
BOOT DRIVE - WEEK OF NOV 12th
Need to buy winter boots for your kids? AGAIN? We have a solution. This year we are holding a Winter Boot Drive!
We will be collecting gently used boots in kids sizes the week of  November 12th. Just drop off any outgrown winter boots at school, under the "Oops" Table.

All families and staff will then be able to "shop" for boots free of charge Monday, November 19th in the cafeteria. Any unclaimed items will be donated to Kids in Crisis. REDUCE, REUSE & RECYCLE!!!
GREEN NEWS
Thursday, November 15th, is America Recycles Day! Students are encouraged to wear blue to show their pledge to recycle and will participate in fun activities during lunchtime (click here if you want to help).  Keep the conversation going by discussing ways you recycle at home. TRADING CANDY FOR A CHILD'S SMILE
The Wellness Committee would like to thank all Riverside School families and children who donated unwanted Halloween candy.  We collected even more this year - in fewer days - for a  total  of 480 L BS !!!  Local pediatric dentist, Dr. Stacy Zarakiotis, is matching $2 for every pound of candy collected and will in turn be donating the $960 to   Operation Smile  (operationsmile.org). Because of our school's enormous donation, we will fund 4 pediatric cleft lip surgeries for children in need!

This year, Dr. Zarakiotis' team is packaging the candy up and delivering it to local heroes - the brave men and women of our fire departments and police stations. Thank you again for your support of this wonderful initiative!
ARE YOU PLANNING TO SEND HOLIDAY CARDS?
Consider using this promotion code ( FUNDRAISERVSCT)  for Minted Holiday Cards to support Riverside school! During the month of November, you'll receive 15% off Holiday card and gift purchases - and 15% will be donated back to our  Riverside   School PTA.
