Welcome back to the New Year of 2020! Lots of “happenings” during the Christmas vacation. As you can see from the pictures, we were able to paint the gym. This was certainly a much needed project! The ceilings, bleachers, walls, and stairwell/ bathrooms were all given a fresh coat of paint. In addition, the new logo and “Irish” were added to the walls. We were all very excited about this new renovation in the gym! The painting was about $15,000. The school budget picked up the majority of this endeavor with Home and School donating $3,771 and Athletics donating $3771. Thanks to both organizations for their continued support.
We have received the Terra Nova Test results for Grades 3 – 8. Parents will be receiving a copy of their child’s report. In addition, we do receive results from the In-View Test (Cognitive Ability Test) that is taken at the same time as the Terra Nova Tests. If you are interested in the results of the In-View please email me and I can send them to you.
We welcome a new teacher to the 5
th grade on January 6. Mrs. Katie Ference will be teaching in 5
th grade. She has certification in Middle Childhood Education and a Master Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. She and the interim sub have worked together over Christmas vacation to ensure a good transition for the students.
The end of Secord Quarter is next Thursday, January 16. Teacher Record Day (no school for students) is Friday, January 17.
Until Next Week,
Janet Weisner

CAP - Creative Activities Program
|
|
Creative Activities Program (CAP) is in need of volunteers to help lead clubs for the winter sessions.
Clubs are open to grades 1-8 and one day a week after school from approximately
3:00 to 4:00
. The winter session dates are from Jan. 27 to Mar. 6.
Please consider giving an hour per week on the day of your choice to lead a club. This would be a great way to earn volunteer hours and can be anything from Legos to gardening to science club. I am happy to help with any ideas and materials to get your club started. We also will reimburse you for all materials used.
Our students really enjoy participating in after school clubs but it is essential for parent involvement to keep these clubs going.
Potential ideas:
Archery, Board games, Dodgeball, Lego (CAP has a large collection of Legos for use), Puzzles, Rocket Building/STEM, Sewing
