NEXT STEPS
In our Christian walk there are always next steps.  The only question is in what direction those next steps will be?  During my many hikes on the Appalachian Trail one of the lessons I learned was that when you get exhausted, when you think that you can't go on, sometimes the best you can do is just keep putting one foot in front of the other.  That is always better than standing still and being stagnant in your faith.

OUTREACH BUILDING NEWS

Our Kid's Closet Ministry has finished moving in to their spacious new home.  If you haven't heard, the church is renting a building at 4735 W. Hwy. 10 (a block or so west of Liberty school).  There is still some work that needs to be done before the facility is completely up and running. All of the additional space will help significantly with storing and sorting.  Three washers and three dryers were donated to help with laundering the items.  Our Food Pantry will soon be at the location.  A lot of reconstruction has to be done to that portion of the building before the Food Pantry can move.  The needed renovations include removing a garage door and installing a window and door as well as doing some drywall work and putting up shelves.  If you're interested in helping with Kid's Closet or Food Pantry please call the church office at 574-896-5927.  Clothing and food donations still need to be dropped off at the church until the donation building is moved and the space for the pantry is ready.

"God has been good to me".  What a great
Thanksgiving verse from Genesis!  Why do
you celebrate Thanksgiving - to give thanks
to God for all He has done for you?  Do you
have a home, a family, food to eat, a job,
freedom to attend church, and a great
country in which to live?  God has given all
of these things to you!
Pilgrims were thankful for God's goodness to them.  From stories about these people our preschoolers will see that Thanksgiving is a great time to thank God for all the goodness and love that He has shown them.
We will celebrate this special time by
learning about the first Thanksgiving and
creating colorful turkeys.  We will continue our unit on colors; working on pink & white  We will start working on shapes  I thank God for all of my Little Lights
and their parents!  God surely has been
good to me!

Children/Youth Ministries

Once again I am reaching out to you, the congregation of the North Judson United Methodist Church.  Many of you have stated that having children and youth in our church is a high-priority to you.  We cannot expect parents to bring their children to a church that doesn't offer programs for their children when they show up.  The church needs more than just your words to help fill these positions!  It needs YOU!  If you are a screened volunteer or would like to be one, here are some positions we need filled now.  They would require you to do it once every month:

9:00 Service (Children's Church P-5th Grades)  The 1st & 3rd Sunday of each month

10:00 Sunday School Hour (P-5th Grades)  The 2nd, 3rd, 4th, & 5th Sunday of each month

11:00 Service (Children's Church 1st-5th Grades)  The 3rd, 4th, & 5th Sunday of each month

We also need subs for both times of  Children's Church and subs for Sunday School and the nursery.

Please contact Kathy Vorm for more information!!

FROM THE STEWARDSHIP TEAM:

STEWARDSHIP SUNDAY
NOVEMBER 18, 2018

The Stewardship Team is continuing our year-round education program as we move into the time of year we traditionally celebrate stewardship and make our commitments to God and our church. You recently received a letter from the Stewardship Team talking about our focus of "Graceful Generosity".  The team will be delivering a different message concerning the giving of our time, talent and treasure each Sunday as we lead up to Stewardship Sunday on November 18th.  Please take the time to review the Graceful Generosity chart and Commitment Form included with the letter, and pray about how you and your family can open up your hearts to hear your calling from Jesus Christ.  Please bring your Commitment Form to church on Sunday, November 18th as we celebrate.  (You are also welcome to hand in your form through the mail or on another Sunday if you are unable to make it on Stewardship Sunday.)  We would like to thank you for your generous giving of your time, talent and treasure to NJUMC!!!
