LAST CHANCE!
Day of Centering Prayer: this Saturday, November 10
Give yourself the gift of a mini retreat from 10 am to 3 pm this Saturday in the North Room ! This day of centering prayer, led by Lindsay Boyer, will begin with a brief review of centering prayer, followed by a questions and comments period. We will engage in five or six half hour sessions of centering prayer with a break for lunch in silence and further questions and comments in the afternoon.

Recommended for those who have some experience of centering prayer who would like to spend a day in practice. A $20 donation is requested to cover the cost of a box lunch and to help us sponsor future events.

For more information or to RSVP, email Lindsay or call her at 718-858-4119.

Heights Interfaith Homeless Shelter at Grace:
We are at the midpoint of our six weeks,
and yes, we still need your help!
Grace has hosted the Heights Interfaith Homeless Shelter since October 22, and it has been a terrific experience for our Grace volunteers and also for our guests. If you have volunteered and brought a meal or slept over in those weeks, thank you so much!

But we still need volunteers! How can you help? Sign up to come for dinner and sleep overnight – in Classroom #1, just off the Gym – on beds with fresh linens and your own bathroom. Sign-up boards are at the back of the church.

We still seek one more sleeper volunteer for the following dates:
  • Wednesday, November 14
  • Friday, November 16
  • Friday, November 23
Any questions? Please contact Elizabeth Stong or Charlotte Thorp, via the Parish Office .
Journey to Adulthood Sunday School
For the next three weeks, at 10 am in the Hope Library, we will be taking a look at the biblical notion of “welcoming the stranger,” and examining what it means for Christians in our society regarding relationships to immigrants and refugees.
Guests at Thanksgiving Dinner
Thanksgiving is both a day of celebration and reflection for the many blessings in our lives, including our friends and family. It's also an opportunity to open our hearts and tables to members of the Grace community who may find themselves far from home on Thanksgiving Day. We are asking for volunteers to host a fellow parishioner who might otherwise be dining alone as a guest at your Thanksgiving table this year.

If you are able to host or if you would like to be a guest, please contact Sheila O'Neill (or call/text 917-365-2820). Sheila will notify both the host and guest when a match has been made and provide contact information to each party to work out the details for attending Thanksgiving dinner. If you have any questions, please contact Sheila.
Seeking Nominations to the Vestry for 2019
The Annual Parish meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 , at 6 pm in the Guild Hall. At that meeting, we will be electing three new Vestry members for a three-year term. The Nominating Committee (consisting of the three out-going members, Kathy Page, David Pitou, and Amy Rowland, as well as the Rev. Allen Robinson and Wardens Kate Rock and Marilyn Grant) is receiving names for consideration. The criteria for nomination are regular and faithful attendance at Grace Church worship services; active participation in the life of Grace; and making an annual pledge supporting the financial life of the Church. Vestry members should be able to attend regular Vestry meetings (held on the first Monday of the month), willing to take a leadership role in Church programs, interested in the Grace community and be both open and welcoming. If you, or someone you know, is interested in Vestry service, please speak with Kate Rock or Marilyn Grant or email them at katewrock@gmail.com or marilyn.prycegrant@icloud.com .

The nominating period runs from November 12 through November 30.
Grace Church Christmas Pageant. It's time!
This year's pageant is coming up - Sunday, December 16 at the 11 am service . Everyone (not just Pageant Parents!) should click here to find out more and how to get involved. (One need of many: two exuberant yet focused adults/older teens to assist with leading rehearsals.)

Most roles are open, so please discuss with your kids (ages 3 to 14) who they'd like to portray. Clear your calendars for three Saturday morning rehearsals on Saturdays, December 1, December 8 , and December 15 . All rehearsals will begin promptly at 9 am and end by 11:00 am.

Brianna McCarty will be taking sign-ups online and during Coffee Hour between the 9:15 and 11 am services Sundays, November 4 and 11. Contact her here with any questions.

Don't miss this opportunity to share in a very special tradition here at Grace!
