WIN $1000 WITH YOUR GIFT TO MARSHFIELD AREA UNITED WAY

Marshfield Area United Way's annual fall campaign is currently underway. And thanks to several generous sponsors, your gift to Marshfield Area United Way can automatically enter you in the Give & Win Sweepstakes to win one of five $1000 cash prizes.

Any donor making a contribution of one dollar per week (annual gift of $52) to the Marshfield Area United Way campaign in 2018 is automatically entered into the Give & Win Sweepstakes for 50 chances to win. Additionally, any Marshfield Area United Way donor who gave at least $52 or more to last year's campaign, and increases his or her gift by as little as one dollar this year, will double their odds and automatically be entered into the Give & Win Sweepstakes for 100 chances to win.

The deadline for entries into the Sweepstakes is 4:30 p.m. on December 14, 2018. Winners will be announced on or before January 31, 2019. Official rules, pledge forms, and secure online donations are available on United Way's website. Questions about the sweepstakes can be directed to [email protected] or by calling United Way at 715-384-9992.

Funds raised this fall will support community resources that will help make the Marshfield area a stronger, healthier community.  Programs supported with your generous donations stay right here and work to: fight hunger, reduce homelessness, support victims of domestic abuse, increase financial stability and independence for families struggling financially, and so much more.

For more information about the programs your gift to United Way supports, please visit marshfieldareaunitedway.org.  A very special thank you to the sponsors of the Give & Win Sweepstakes: RiverEdge Golf Course, Simplicity Credit Union, and Nasonville Dairy.

NOW DONATIONS, SPONSORSHIPS NEEDED

Since its creation in the fall of 2013, the Nutrition On Weekends program has grown to help more than 450 local children whom are facing food insecurities in their home. The program provides supplemental food packs for children to take home on the weekend throughout the school year. Last year, the NOW program served children in the Marshfield, Auburndale, Granton, Greenwood, Loyal, Pittsville, Spencer and Stratford School Districts. The program also served children at the Marshfield location of the Wood County Head Start program. All schools will be served in the 2018-19 school year.

The communities' support of this program has been wonderful and has made it possible for the program to grow into what it is today. To continue the success of the program, United Way has created a sponsorship form as another way to support the program. There are 34 weeks during the school year that a child receives a food pack to take home for the weekend. To sponsor a child for the entire school year costs $78. Each food pack contains:  2 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, 2 cups of cereal, 2 pieces of fresh fruit, baby carrots, and 2 snack items.

Please use this link to fill out an electronic sponsorship form. If would like a paper copy mailed to you, please click here.

  • granola bars
  • goldfish crackers

  • cheerios
  • raisin bran

MAKING AN IMPACT...

A young man by the name of William, who was living with his girlfriend, called our office after being kicked out of the house.  He needed a place to stay.  Through the phone conversation with William, it was learned that he was feeling completely hopeless and suicidal.  We told him we could place him in the Genesis Room and asked him to come immediately to our office.  He drove to Mary's Place while we talked to him on the phone.  Once he was here we referred him to a crisis line and he was able to receive over the phone support and referred to another program initially.  Once he got out of the program he returned to Mary's Place and we put him in the Genesis Room.  He then lived there for 4 weeks.  He took ownership right away and became a vital part of the house and program.  He started volunteering to do janitorial work etc.  We were able to refer him to a place of employment and he has since found a job and moved into a room here in Mary's Place and is paying rent.  He is truly thriving and has a heart to give back.  He is saving up money to eventually find his own place and is excited to rebuild his life.

Mary's Place Boarding House provides safe, clean and dignified housing for low-income, no-income individuals in the Marshfield area. Your gift to United Way helps provide transitional shelter with supportive services to homeless individuals in our community. Your generosity is making an impact in our community.
