Mom's Morning Meets Tomorrow
|
The monthly Mom's Morning meets tomorrow, Thursday, November 8, at 8:45 a.m. in Discovery House (918 Orleans)! This month, the group will begin a study based on the Nooma short films. Each video is around 10-15 minutes long, and will be followed by discussion questions. This month's video is Noise-helping us to focus on God in the midst of a loud, distracting world. Thanksgiving Food Drive for Metropolitan Ministries
|
The Thanksgiving Food Drive by St. John's Church and School for Metropolitan Ministries begins next Monday continues through Friday, November 16. The most-needed items include:
- Cereal (hot or cold)
- Canned cranberry sauce
- Canned fruit
- Canned yams
- Boxed or bagged stuffing
- Bagged or canned beans
- Grocery gift cards
- Canned or packets of gravy
- Peanut butter
- Box of macaroni and cheese
- Canned vegetables
- Bag of rice
- Canned or boxed potatoes
- Dessert mixes
- Packaged cookies or pastries
Please place your donations in the blue barrels at the church. A reminder, the desired quantities of these items are for families, not for large kitchen preparations. Thank you for your generosity!

Fathers Annual Camping Trip This Friday
|
This year's St. John's Fathers camping trip is November 9 and 10 at
Lakewood Retreat in Brooksville, FL (
www.lakewoodretreat.org).
The cost is $25 per person, including children. Please mail a check made out to Kaivon Madani to 5224 Bayshore Blvd, Tampa, FL 33611, or you can pay at the campground.

Third Annual Interfaith Thanksgiving Worship Service
|
St. John's will host our annual Interfaith Thanksgiving Worship Service this year on Thursday, November 15, at 7:00 p.m. Join us as we gather together with our friends from Congregation Rodeph Sholom to give thanks for all the blessings God has given us. Don't miss this celebration of our shared and unique traditions as we come together to give thanks to the Lord. A reception will follow in the parish hall. All are welcome!

Holiday Letters for Heroes
|
Holiday Letters for Heroes is back! We will have a letter drop box near the parish offices starting this Sunday. Then join us November 18 in the Parish Hall after the 9:15 a.m. service, as our parish children use their creativity to write thank you letters to service members deployed overseas during the holidays. Grown-ups can write a letter too! There will be patriotic crafts, puzzles, and wreaths to take home!
Let's show these heroes our appreciation for their sacrifice and service.

6th to 12th graders! Are you Called? This Sunday at St John's EYC (4:30 to 6:00 p.m. in Discovery House), we'll be discussing what it means to have a calling. What is God calling you to do with your life, today, and in the future? How can you live out that calling in faith? Join us for games, a yummy dinner, and lots of fun!

Women's Mid Morning Bible Study, 9:45 a.m., Chapel The Women's Mid Morning Bible Study is studying Exodus this fall, using Interpretation Bible Studies' guide Exodus by James D. Newsome. They invite all women of St. John's and their friends to join them as they explore God's redemptive and merciful activity in some of the most unforgettable stories in the Old Testament.
