Adult Mission Trip Survey
Where in the world, or in the United States, should Broadway's next Adult Mission team go?  What's the best time of year for mission trips?  If you can answer those questions, you can help Mission & Outreach Ministry choose a destination and purpose for our  2019 team.  Just complete the survey and drop it in the offering tray or in the basket on the Narthex Welcome Center!
Sign Up to Sponsor A VAC Christmas Basket! Tree
Look for the Christmas tree on the Welcome Center in Fellowship Hall - stop by and sign up to sponsor a family or an individual who is elderly or disabled.  You can also specify the size of the family you choose to sponsor. Your information will be given to the good folks at VAC, and you will receive information directly from VAC about your family or person.  If you have any questions, please contact  Debby.  Sign-ups will continue through Sunday, November 18.
This Saturday, November 10
Youth Make A Difference Day
Do you have a yard full of leaves, flower beds that need attention or windows to wash?  Broadway's Youth Group will looking for just those kinds of jobs on Youth Make A Difference Day or Saturday, November 10!  Yes, this year's YMDD is on a Saturday, not Sunday - but our youth will be ready to rake, weed and wash nonetheless!  If you would like to be added to the list of those with a few things to do around the house and yard, simply contact Pastor Nick  at 445.5312 or by  email.
Coming Up...
We Are Taking Dinner to Our PIE Teachers!
One of the many reasons that we are so excited about our new relationship with the Center for Early Learning-North (CELN), is that Broadway will essentially serve as the building's PTA!  PTA groups are famous for making teachers and staff feel appreciated and supported, especially when they are working extra hours during parent-teacher conferences.
On Monday, Nov. 12, and Tuesday, Nov. 13, Broadway has been asked to provide an evening meal for the CELN teachers and staff.  On Monday, we plan to do a soup and salad dinner; on Tuesday, we will provide a taco bar.  And of course - desserts are very popular in the teachers' lounge!
If you would like to provide a soup, salad makings or taco bar supplies, please contact  Debby by Thursday, November  8.  We will also need volunteers to help us transport the food to CELN.

A Friendsgiving Potluck with Our Burmese Friends on November 18
The great thing about Thanksgiving is that it is a holiday centered
on gratitude, family, friends, and of course, food!  On Sunday, November 18, at 5:00 p.m., Mission and Outreach Ministry will host a "Friendsgiving" Potluck Dinner with our friends who attend the Myanmar Christian Fellowship Church, which meets in The Loft every Sunday morning at 11:15.
MOM will provide the turkey and ham for the meal, but everyone is asked to bring a side, dessert or both to share.  Look for an RSVP form in your church mailbox-just complete and return it by dropping it in the offering tray or placing it in the church mailbox.
We hope to see many Broadway smiles around the tables on November 18 - please join us to share good food and form new friendships with some very special people!
A Season for Gratitude and Hope...
Idea: gratitude_attitude.jpg
November brings a season of gratitude. Psalm 9:1 speaks of the grateful heart. In giving thanks, we are asking that the encouragement of Rick Frost and Kim Ryan be responded to with love letters or thank you notes to the church. You might choose to follow one of their prompts or create one of your own. Here are their suggested starters:
     1) Here is a special story about our church family...
     2) It may surprise you to learn that when I was a young Christian ...
     3) One positive change in the world I have witnessed...
     4) I'm curious to see how Broadway Christian Church....
     5) My brightest hope for the future is...
     6) My wishes for our church family are...
This is an opportunity to give thanks for something, someone, some group, or some hope. We will have a display of these notes in the Narthex throughout the month. Put yours up yourself or mail it to the church office with the footnote: Thank you!. Give thanks with a grateful heart...and consider the gift of writing it down.

Sponsor Our Sanctuary Flowers flower-bouquet.jpg
Each Sunday, our Sanctuary is graced with a beautiful floral arrangement on our Chancel table.  You can sponsor a Sunday arrangement in celebration or in memory of a special person or event in your life.  Look for the 2019 Flower Chart in the Narthex, and choose your Sunday. Each Sunday's arrangement cost $35, and you will receive a reminder from the church office approximately one month prior to your selected date.  Your Sunday gift will be noted in the church worship bulletin, along with your dedication.  Following worship, the arrangement is re-purposed by CareLink's Flower Ministry, and divided into smaller arrangements for our home-bound and recovering members.
Save Your Memories of Our Heritage Month!
Well, our Heritage Month has ended, but wasn't it wonderful?  Our volunteer photographers captured so many happy moments - and you can download and save those special photos yourself!
The entire collection of photos is available to view and download -  just follow this link. Thank you to Scott and Dana Fritz and Heather Harlan who have recorded our month of memories!
Transitional Minister Listening Session Report
Following the conclusion of the Listening Sessions conducted by the Transitional Minister Search Committee, the Committee has issued its report on those sessions to the Board.  The Committee also conducted a survey of members during this time, and found that three areas were identified as top priorities for the Transitional Minister:
  • Maintaining Viability - Continue with Broadway's many programs and outreach.
  • Fellowship/Connectedness - facilitate ways for increasing fellowship throughout our services.
  • Preaching - spirit-based preaching that speaks to us personally.

Next steps for the Transitional Minister Search Committee include submitting Broadway's congregational profile to the Christian Church of Mid-America Regional Ministry office, and then begin receiving applicant information.  You can read the entire report here.

Chuck's Jungle
Talking Horse Theater
Nov. 16 & 17, 7:30 p.m.
Nov. 18, 2:00 p.m.
Written by local playwright, David Webber, Chuck's Jungle is a powerful and poignant look at the lives of homeless men and women in America. Set on the outskirts of a familiar town near the airport, Chuck has set up an ideal camp safe from law enforcement, weather, other uninvited guests. Alongside his friends, Walt, Ernie, and Patty, Chuck struggles to live peacefully while always running low on food, money, and supplies. When newcomer Jason comes to the camp , he disrupts the balance of the group and Chuck's way of life.
