City of Bell Receives Prop 68 for $4,499,388
California Consulting Client City of Bell, received $4,499,388 for Prop 68.

These monies will improve Pritchard Field Park. Construct two new playgrounds, splash pad, two dog parks, three picnic areas with gazebos, five fitness/ exercise stations, walking trails, combined restroom/ office building, native plant garden, park monument signage with “City of Bell” Logo and park entry arch, high screen wall for public art and murals, two parking lots, landscaping irrigation, and lighting throughout the park.

This latest achievement is another example of the commitment of the City of Bell's leadership to protect and promote the quality of life for its residents.

It’s also a reflection of the dedication and hard work by CC Project Manager, David Marquez, who ensured a successful grant application.

Grant Awards
CC congratulates the City of Westminster (a CC client) for receiving the SB2 Planning Grant in the amount of $310,000 from the California Department of Housing and Community Development.

This latest achievement is another example of the commitment of the city's leadership to protect and promote the quality of life for its residents.

It’s also a reflection of the dedication and hard work by CC Project Manager, Diana Dinerman, who ensured a successful grant application.

CC congratulates the City of Carson (a CC client) for receiving the Local Road Safety Program (LRSP)Grant in the amount of $72,000 from the US Department of Transportation Federal Highway Association.

California Consulting Welcomes Therese Cisneros-Remington as our new Associate for San Diego County
California Consulting Inc. is pleased to welcome Therese Cisneros-Remington as our new San Diego Associate. Therese will handle business development and client relations in San Diego County.


Therese Cisneros-Remington has 25 years experience in the field of education and partnership development.

Born and raised in Los Angeles, she attended Whittier College and CSUF, where she majored in Human Development with a focus in Early Childhood Education and minor in Psychology focusing on Social Development. After receiving her BA, Therese started teaching kindergarten in the mornings, then became the assistant director in the afternoons. She had no idea then, that her 5 years of experience would be the corner stone to a successful business career in education. Therese then received a position as a Social Worker, followed by a Nutritionist and currently the Marketing/Business Advisor for the Palomar Community College GEAR UP Partnership Grant.

Team Member Spotlight
Jaimie Lewis, Project Manager

California Consulting is pleased to spotlight Jaimie Lewis in our March 2020 newsletter. Jaimie Lewis serves California Consulting with a background in finance, budgeting, and grant writing.

Prior to joining California Consulting, Jaimie served as a grant writer and financial analyst for Omnitrans, San Bernardino County’s transportation provider. Jaimie’s employment history includes work for the County of San Bernardino as a public health grant auditor, the State Board of Equalization as a sales and use tax auditor and a small business owner for several businesses she founded. Jaimie has extensive knowledge in post-award management and milestone reporting. Working with cities like the City of Rialto and numerous non-profits in the Southern California region, Jaimie has written and assisted in the grant management and monitoring efforts for many organizations.

A graduate of California State University, Northridge, Jaimie earned her Bachelor’s Degree in business administration and her Master’s Degree in public administration. She has written competitive grants and discretionary grants to aid in the awarding of over $48 million in federal, state and private funding.

A native of the Inland Empire, Jaimie currently resides in Rialto, California. Married to her high school sweetheart, Jaimie is wife and mom of five children, four girls and one baby boy born in 2018.

California Consulting CEO Steve Samuelian Elected to Serve on the BizFed Institute Board of Directors
California Consulting CEO, Steve Samuelian, has recently been elected to serve on The BizFed Institute Board of Directors.

The BizFed Institute educates, engages, equips and measures consensus solutions from civically minded, nonprofit, academic, and regional thought leaders for the purpose of building strong communities throughout California.

Kevin Harbour, BizFed Institute President, welcomed Steve by stating: "BizFed Institute is excited to announce that Steve Samuelian has been voted in as a member of BizFed Institute. Steve has been a dedicated member of BizFed, our sister organization, and has been an exemplary leader and contributor for years. Municipal Grant Opportunties
U.S. Department of Justice: COPS Anti-Methamphetamine Program (CAMP)

Deadline: April 8, 2020

Amount: $1 million to $2 million (Each award is three years in duration)

Match: No

Eligibility: State law enforcement agencies with multijurisdictional reach and interdisciplinary team. To be eligible, applicants must:

·         Have primary authority over state seizures of methamphetamine
·         Have high seizures of precursor chemicals, finished methamphetamine, laboratories, and laboratory dump seizures
·         Use the funds for investigative purposes to locate or investigate illicit activities related to the manufacture and distribution of methamphetamine (including precursor diversion, laboratories, or methamphetamine traffickers)
·         Submit a budget request of at least $1 million.


The 2020 COPS Anti-Methamphetamine Program is a competitive grant program that advances public safety by providing funds directly to state law enforcement agencies to investigate illicit activities related to the manufacture and distribution of methamphetamine. Up to $13 million is available for this program.
U.S. Department of Justice: COPS Anti-Heroin Task Force (AHTF) Program

Deadline: April 8, 2020

Amount: Up to $4 million

Match: No

Eligibility: state law enforcement agencies with multijurisdictional reach and interdisciplinary team. To be eligible, applicants must:
• have primary authority over state seizures of heroin, fentanyl, carfentanil, and other opioids
• have high per capita rates of primary treatment admissions for heroin, fentanyl, carfentanil, and other opioids
• use the funds for investigative purposes to locate or investigate illicit activities related to the distribution of heroin, fentanyl, carfentanil, or the unlawful distribution of prescription opioids

Educational Grant Opportunties
U.S. Department of Justice: COPS School Violence Prevention Program (SVPP)

Deadline: April 8, 2020

Amount: Up to $500,000 (Each award is three years in duration)

Match: SVPP funding will provide up to 75% funding

Eligibility : Applications for SVPP must be submitted by a state, unit of local government (city, county, township, etc.), or its public agencies (state agencies and units of local government agencies such as, county or city public school systems, public boards of education, police departments, sheriff’s departments), or Indian tribes. Recipients of SVPP funding must use funding for the benefit of K-12, primary and secondary schools and students.


The 2020 COPS Office School Violence Prevention Program is a competitive program that provides funding to improve security at schools and on school grounds in the jurisdiction of the grantee through evidence-based school safety programs. Up to $50 million is available for this program
Dollar General Literacy Foundation: Youth Literacy Grants

Deadline: May 21, 2020

Amount: Not specified

Eligibility: nonprofit organizations, schools, and libraries that work to help students who are below grade level or experiencing difficulty reading


Grant funding is provided to assist in the following areas:
·         Implementing new or expanding existing literacy programs
·         Purchasing new technology or equipment to support literacy initiatives
·         Purchasing books, materials or software for literacy programs

3/2/20 - California Consulting, Inc  was a proud ACSA Business Associate (sponsor) for this evening's ACSA Superintendent event in San Diego. The event was a wonderful program honoring San Diego County Superintendents from all over the County. The dinner was attended by more than 120 leaders from the SD region.
