Since the leaves are changing, we would like to highlight one of our previous grants, the Crawford County Forest Preserve. GWRPC submitted and received a grant from Illinois Department of Natural Resources OSLAD program to develop the donated land into a public forest preserve.
The Crawford County Forest Preserve is approximately 70.33 acres. At the forest preserve there is now a gravel parking lot with asphalt ADA accessible area, picnic shelter, walking path, fishing dock, and ADA accessible restrooms. There is also a pond to provide public waters for residents to fish. Several acres have been left untouched to preserve the scenic and natural value of the land.
Throughout the project, several organizations in the community came together to be involved in the planning stage and volunteered for site beautification. Below are pictures from the Crawford County Forest Preserve taken 10/25/18.
