Celebrating Earth Day 2021
The theme of Earth Day 2021, held on April 22nd, is "restoring the earth." The Pacific Institute continues to work with stakeholders to identify and develop water management solutions that promote resilient water systems, supporting restoration projects in the U.S. and abroad. We help manage the CEO Water Mandate, a UN Global Compact initiative that mobilizes business leaders to contribute to water security, with the understanding that the complexity of global water challenges requires collaboration with the business sector.

Upcoming Event: Drinking Water Needs Assessment Results for California
California was the first state to legally recognize the Human Right to Water with the passage of Assembly Bill 685 in 2012. The California State Water Resources Control Board, in an effort to advance the goal of safe, clean, affordable, and accessible water for all Californians, conducted a statewide Needs Assessment of underperforming and at-risk drinking water systems. The Pacific Institute collaborated with the State Water Board and others to assess the gap between the estimated costs of potential solutions for these systems and potential funding options available. The results of this assessment, along with the other Needs Assessment analyses, will be presented during the "SAFER: Needs Assessment Results" webinar.

Yet there is no standardized method to account for the benefits these solutions provide, making it hard to build the business case for investment. This webinar is the second in a three-part series on nature-based solutions for watersheds, from the CEO Water Mandate, the Pacific Institute, The Nature Conservancy, Danone, and LimnoTech.
