  • activities to do at home.
  • how programs are continuing remotely.
  • resources for spiritual support.
Friends are always welcome - to virtual meetings, too!
Please forward this email to anyone you think may enjoy it!

St. Patrick's Day  Activities
If you are celebrating St. Patrick's Day today, here are a couple ideas to throw into the mix! (Click on each.)

Green tissue paper votive candle holders. Not just for St. Patrick's Day, you can use these through the spring!
Lenten Activities
Children's Ash Wednesday 2020
To help observe the holy season of Lent, here are some resources with Lenten themes.

Journey through the Lenten season with these beautiful "Lenten Adventures" prayer cards.   (Click here for the Google Drive file.) There is a card for each day with an inspirational message and suggested activities. These were created by Kelin Fulkerson-Smith at the Episcopal church in Clarendon Hills.

Illustrated Ministry is offering free resources for Lent right now too. At Christ Church we have used their coloring posters, children's bulletins, backpack tags and more. They will send you coloring pages and more when you sign up. (Click here to visit their website.)

40 bags in 40 days.  Lent is a time to find ways to live more simply. Instead of or in addition to other Lenten practices, get rid of a bag's worth of stuff every day of the season! You can definitely involve the children! The joy of de-cluttering and a Lenten discipline all at the same time. And, although many things are shut down at this time, our Rummage drop-off is still open! (Idea from  "Feels Like Home" website.)

Spiritual Support
Please share any prayers, videos, meditations, or activities that are helping you through this unprecedented time. Below are a couple that have been helpful to us.

A Prayer:

May we who are merely inconvenienced remember those whose lives are at stake.

May we who have no risk factors remember those most vulnerable.

May we who have the luxury of working from home remember those who must choose between preserving their health or making their rent.

May we who have the flexibility to care for our children when their schools close remember those who have no options.

May we who have to cancel our trips remember those that have no place to go.

May we who are losing our margin money in the tumult of the economic market remember those who have no margin at all.

May we who settle in for a quarantine at home remember those who have no home.

Remember also, the first responders, doctors, nurses and paramedics, as they care for others.

During this time when we cannot physically wrap our arms around each other, let us yet find ways to be the loving embrace of God to our neighbors.

Amen
