Grand Friends Day - Nov. 16

Lower School: Grand Friends Day for the Lower School begins at 8:15 a.m. in the cafeteria. Here's the schedule:
  • 8:15-9 a.m. - Coffee and pastries in the cafeteria
  • 9-9:30 a.m. - Visit homeroom classrooms
  • 9:30-10 a.m. - Head of School presentation in the gym
  • 10-10:30 a.m. - Musical Presentation in the gym
  • 10:30 a.m.-noon - Book Fair will be open
  • 12:30 p.m. - Dismissal

Morning Care will be in the Theater that morning. Cafeteria Services will not serve lunch. Aftercare will not be held because of early dismissal.

Middle School: Students will have a special schedule that allows them to attend all of their academic classes; fifth and sixth graders will not have Art or PE. Middle school students are dismissed at 1 p.m. Students will be served snacks, but lunch will not be served. Aftercare will not be held for Middle School students.

Upper School: Students are released at 1 p.m. Lunch will not be served.

Little School: Little School does not have early release on Nov. 16, but families are welcome to pick up children early following the Lower School's festivities.

Merchandise: If you're looking for that perfect holiday gift, swing by the porch of Founders Hall to snag some Keystone merchandise. The sale runs from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Furry friends lighten college application stress
When the Nov. 1 college application deadline for early admission hits, seniors are pretty well wiped out from the stress of compiling their information and writing essays. 

So Mr. Spedding, the Head of Upper School, decided to do something that would help the students relieve a little stress.

The eighth-graders of Mr. Howk's science class had a chance to test their design skills by creating baskets that would absorb the impact of a falling egg so that it stayed intact.

Seventh graders interview veterans
Important school projects are all around us, if we're ready to see them.

In this spirit, Dr. Pederson assigned her seventh graders to conduct and write up an interview with a veteran about their military experience and write a piece that conveys their personality and experience.

Niche ranks Keystone's middle school #1
The public recognition keeps coming. The latest: Niche.com ranked the Middle School as the best in the city.

"As usual, Keystone School came in first. Keystone, which serves students in kindergarten through high school, was also ranked as the 33rd best private K-12 school in the country," said a story on MySanAntonio.com.

What did you do before you came to Keystone: I taught high school science for 12 years at Southside High School in San Antonio.

Book Fair - Nov. 9-16

Stock up on new favorites at the upcoming Book Fair.

It runs Nov. 9-16 in the Lower School Library.

Little School Food Drive - Now through Nov. 14

The Little School is holding its canned food drive now, and it continues through Nov. 14.

On the final day, the students will help load the cans onto a truck from the San Antonio Food Bank. It's part of the Little School's Helping Hands lesson, and fits with the overall Keystone pillar of Community Service.
Little School Grandparents Day - Nov. 15

The Little School Grandparents Day takes place from 8:30-9:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 15.
Register for Gingerbread Workshop Dec. 1
It's already time to start thinking of gingerbread houses, so be sure to register for this year's PTO Gingerbread Workshop on Dec. 1.

Kit Myers and her Gingerbread Angels will instruct and supervise the artists at work.
This year, there are three building options: barn, house or mini village.

Parent Connection Book Club - Jan. 10

Please join Keystone Counselors Erica Shapiro, Alison Raymer, and Keystone parents on Thursday January 10, 2019 at Lower School Library for a lively discussion of this book, in which the authors challenge us  not  to leave our most meaningful, memorable moments to chance…when we can create them. The discussion begins at 8:30 a.m.
