About Hurricane Laura

Our Area faces the prospect of Hurricane Laura making landfall sometime this evening, likely with the Golden Triangle region receiving the brunt of the impact. District staff have been making plans to assist with relief efforts and to help with recovery. We have connected directly with nearly all of the pastors in the bullseye of this storm.

Julie Tucker, Texas District Emergency Management Coordinator is busy staging assets and is preparing to move help into the affected areas as it is permitted. Rev. Steven Misch, the district's Disaster Relief Coordinator, is preparing to work with our team to provide financial assistance where needed most.

For those who have damage to their homes:

(Pastors may wish to cut-and-paste this information to share with members.)

Those who sustain damage to their homes should utilize the link below to submit a Texas State Department of Emergency Management (with whom the Texas District partners) damage survey. Within the survey, disaster survivors will have the opportunity to request assistance from volunteer organizations at their property. This information will also help to request more resources and volunteers into the area to help.

Residents will be able to upload pictures and report damage to the property. This voluntary self-reporting should not substitute for residents reporting damages to their insurance agencies, nor does it guarantee disaster relief assistance.

And most important:

We are reminded by God in the words of the Psalmist:

God is our refuge and strength
an ever-present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
though its waters roar and foam
and the mountains quake with their surging. (Psalm 46:1-3 NIV84)

God's got this. He has dominion over all things. He is with us before, during, and after a hurricane. He's got this. And he has each one of us.
