N. Krueger Road Project
Public Meeting Is May 5
The Village is hosting a pre-construction open-house public meeting on Wednesday, May 5 at 6:30 p.m. in the parking lot at Woodlawn Middle School to provide information to residents about the N. Krueger Road reconstruction project, which is expected to begin in late May or early June and be completed in three to four months.

The project involves resurfacing and reconstructing the roadway in sections. The portion from Eleanor Court to Gilmer Road will also be widened to add shoulders. At the public meeting, members of the community can view project plans, ask questions, and learn how to stay informed regarding expected detours and traffic delays. For more information, call Village Hall at 847-634-9440.
Ruse Burglaries On the Rise; Please Be Vigilant
The Lake County Sheriff is reminding residents to be aware of ruse burglaries. These are scams committed by criminals working in pairs and using 'storylines' to distract residents while an accomplice enters the home to steal cash and other valuables. These crimes often occur in the spring when homeowners contract work for repairs or landscaping services. Other scams include urgent phone calls from individuals who claim to be a relative who needs money.

For a list of safety tips and other precautions you can take, click here. If you see a suspicious vehicle in your neighborhood, please report it to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office at 847-549-5200, or call 911 if you witness an incident or crime in progress.

Tips to Prevent Tick Bites
The spring ephemerals are blooming, and it is tick season once again. These miniature arachnids range in size from the tiny deer tick to the larger, more common American dog tick. Not all tick bites are harmful, but several species can transmit diseases – including Lyme Disease. There are currently no vaccines to prevent tickborne diseases, so avoiding tick bites is the best way to protect yourself and your family. When you are out enjoying nature, wear pants tucked into tall socks or boots and use insect repellent. Dogs should be treated regularly with tick-prevention products. Also remember to do regular tick checks – a lint roller can come in handy to remove them from clothing! For more helpful tips, click here.
Beautification Weekend
Help pick up trash around your community this coming weekend (Saturday, April 24 - Sunday, April 25), during Long Grove’s annual neighborhood cleanup! Filled garbage bags can be placed at the sides of public and private roads throughout the Village and will be collected by Waste Management (WM) the week of April 26. Please do not leave bags on medians, which are difficult for WM to collect. For any questions, please call Village Hall at 847-634-9440. This effort follows Earth Day, which happens to be today, and is a yearly event founded in 1970 to raise global awareness on the different ways to prevent pollution, how to maintain a clean habitat for everyone and celebrate the preservation of our environment.
