The mission of the Springfield Family YMCA is: "To put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all."

The Springfield Family YMCA strives to strengthen the foundation of our community through well-being and fitness camps, family time, swim, sports and play activities for people of all ages and abilities. At the Y, they help to build a healthy spirit, mind and body for all with their core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility at the heart of everything they do. With their commitment to nurturing youth development, promoting healthy living, and fostering a sense of social responsibility, the Y ensures that every individual has access to the essentials needed to learn, grow, and thrive.

YMCA hosts a program called the Diabetes Prevention Program that been in operation for over 3 years. In the YMCA's Diabetes Prevention Program, a trained lifestyle coach introduces topics in a supportive, small group environment and encourage participants as they explore how healthy eating, physical activity and behavior changes can benefit their health. Their program is an evidence based program which has seen positive results nationwide. Based on research funded by the National Institutes of Health, the program has been shown to reduce the number of new cases of type 2 diabetes by as much as 58%. The reduction was even greater among adults ages 60 or older, at 71%.

YMCA also houses the Incentives and Crisis Program. YMCA provides incentive memberships and crisis memberships to help not for profits impact their clients life for a healthier lifestyle. Often times nonprofits when working with clients, need incentives to help impact and reach their goals with clients. Those goals are often for healthier lifestyles, attention to drug addiction, change in negative lifestyles, or more self-awareness on health and positive behavior change. Many agencies also encounter crisis situations which they feel require immediate barrier free assistance.
