Grand Prairie East November 2018
District News

Advantage Academy

Parents, did you know that one of the best things you can do to encourage your children is to discuss their interests and strengths; and help them to have hopes and dreams for their future?

For this Thanksgiving month, our students at every campus and grade level are writing or working on projects about "What I love about America." Some of them will be highlighted at our annual Thanksgiving Lunch!  Parents, we encourage you to talk to your children about this great nation and help them create hopes and dreams for your child's future and to be thankful for the country they live in where they are free to live out their dreams.

Principal's Message
Ms. Forbes-Martin, M.Ed.
Principal
Grand Prairie East

We are very thankful to kick off November with positive parent interactions!  GPE hosted our first "Pastries 4 Parents" Friday, November 2 where administrators, parents, and students enjoyed becoming more familiar with each other on campus.  We plan to do this on the first Friday of each month from 9:00am - 9:30am.

We are excited to announce our Parent Two-Way Communication Night Thursday, November 8, 2018, from 5:30pm- 7:00pm where we invite parents to visit with teachers in the classroom and review their students academic success.  We will be able to provide data from the classroom as well as from district assessments.  We highly encourage parents to participate to help partner with educators on their students' academic success. We need to collaborate to Build Champions with a Future and a Hope!

The Varsity Flag Football team went to the playoffs and held on tightly for advancement.  We are super proud of how far they made it!  Basketball is right around the corner, and we need fans in the stands being loud and proud to support our Boys' and Girls' basketball teams.

Don't forget we are off the entire week of Thanksgiving, November 19-23, 2018.  We want to remind you how extremely thankful we are to be blessed with our students, parents, and staff.  Everyone at AA has a purpose and a place!

The volleyball and flag football 2018 season is over. The GPE varsity flag football game had a great season and ended the season as district runner ups in their TCSAAL North  Texas League!

The team had a tough loss in the 1st round of the playoffs by losing 30-22 on the last drive of the game vs Corinth Classical Academy.  Congratulations to Coach Heathcock and the Varsity Flag Football team for another great season.
