Health Care Students Study Digestive System
Last week Ms. Carter's Essentials of Health Care class experimented
with a hands on lab that simulated the digestive system. Students
used a combination of crackers, oatmeal, and orange juice to create the
"chyme" produced by our stomachs. They then squeezed this concoction
through a stocking to simulate what peristalsis would feel & look like through
the small intestine. They also cut up potatoes & placed them in mason jars with vinegar to demonstrate chemical digestion. Overall the students had fun.
Jackie Gore enjoyed finding another use for her stocking.

Econ Students Study Circular Flow Diagram
Mr. Simmons' Economics classes recently chalked out the
Circular Flow Diagram, a
graphical representation of the
flow
of goods
and money in the economy. This allowed the students to demonstrate their
understanding of the topic, in a unique and refreshing way.

Exciting News!
The 2018-2019 Officer Team of Mary Persons' chapter of Best Buddies International is pleased to announce that Senior members of Best Buddies may now earn teal cords to be worn during graduation exercises. Cords are earned through service points for attending chapter events, socials, meetings, and participating in fundraisers.
This historic decision comes as a result of the officer team advocating for the recognition of club members who may not otherwise qualify to earn a cord, specifically members with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Learn more at Best Buddies' first chapter meeting of the year on Tuesday, September 25th at 3:05 in the Media Center.
