BOARD ELECTION BALLOTS ARE OUT!

Official ballots have been e-mailed (via an online tool called Survey Monkey) to the "Member of Record" listed in our database for each of our member businesses who are in good standing at this time. Per our bylaws, our Chamber holds annual elections for positions on our board of directors, and the current election is for three-year terms that begin in January 2019. We have eight (8) open board seats to fill.

We have seven (7) incumbents running for re-election: Ron Chriss, DTE Energy; Dr. Christine Johns, Utica Community Schools; Mike Kramer, Moceri & Co. PC; Angie Lommen, BAE Systems; Brad Lukas, Beaumont-Troy; Mark Vanderpool, City of Sterling Heights and John Winter, Dawn to Dusk Cleaning Services.

We have two others who would also like to run for election: Bryant Goodreau, Michigan Insurance Source and Amy Persyn, First State Bank.

If you haven't received a ballot, and you are the main contact for your company's Chamber membership, please contact Melanie Davis at 586.731.5400, x22.

To be counted, ballots must be submitted by Thursday, Nov. 15.

Thank you to the candidates for their willingness to serve, and thank you in advance to our membership for completing and submitting the ballots via Survey Monkey. If you have any questions, please contact the Chamber at 586.731.5400.

M-59 RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT UPDATE FROM MDOT:

Another week has passed and unfortunately the weather would not cooperate long enough to allow MDOT to place the last lift of asphalt. While this has been disappointing, it is still the plan to finish the project this calendar year. It is MDOT's primary interest to make sure that the project is safe for both workers and the public while still providing a quality, long lasting product. MDOT will be looking for alternative ways to work together to finish this project this year. If that requires us to change any of the current commitments to keep lanes or turnarounds open, MDOT will give as much notice as possible.
