Today's Sunday Update
Our morning began at 8:30 with our weekly Adult Zoom Sunday School Class.
During our Worship Service at 9:45, we celebrated the ascension of our Lord, Jesus Christ. In Acts 1:1-11 and Ephesians 1:15-23, we'll read how Jesus' ascension played a critical role in fulfilling God's promises to us. We celebrated how God's power is able to raise us to new heights! If you weren't able to join us live, you can find a recording of service on our Facebook page and on our website (see links later in this newsletter).
After our service, we gathered for a Congregational Meeting to elect the next class of Ruling Elders and Deacons, plus a new Youth Elder, a new Youth Deacon, and new members of the Nominating Committee. We also discussed our Session's reponse to a recent proposal from the Synod.
The CORE/JAM Youth Groups will get together later this evening at 5:30 to wrap up their program year with a bonfire/cookout around the church fire pit. All Sunday School classes will conclude their seasons next Sunday, May 23, at 11am.

From This Week's
"Taking Faith Home"
Read: John 17:6-19
Jesus is praying for believers, present and future. The context of this prayer is helpful: the disciples overhear everything Jesus says. It is fascinating how often Christians can think back and recall moments when they overheard parents, grandparents, other family members, friends, or even strangers express their faith in ways that strengthened the eavesdropping individual. A grandparent praying or someone simply talking candidly about their faith in Christ in a way that was not trying to force on the eavesdropper a particular conviction can strengthen one’s faith. Jesus’ disciples overheard Jesus and recorded his words, his prayer, for the church. This recorded prayer acknowledged that Jesus is one with God the Father and that Jesus’ disciples will be protected by God and cared for by one another. That is a candid message worthy of overhearing. When have you overheard someone say something that encouraged your faith in Christ? When might someone overhear you and be strengthened for a life of faith?
Prayer
Loving God, strengthen us in our faith and guide us to walk in love with brothers and sisters in Christ. Amen.

Ecumenical Partnership for Housing Update
Ecumenical Partnership for Housing (EPH) is a partnership of 20 Green Bay area churches serving 138 families, consisting of 40 transitional housing families, 16 long-term supportive housing families, and 82 families in our prevention program. Our church supports the EPH in a variety of ways including funding and through volunteers who give of their time. Our church sponsors the upper half of a duplex that is located near West High School. One to two times a year the unit turns over, and we need volunteers to assist with the cleaning of the unit, but EPH is implementing a more holistic approach and asking for volunteers with any unit that has a turnover. This takes the burden off the sponsoring church of a particular unit. There are a variety of volunteer opportunities - everything from cleaning to painting to stuffing envelopes in your own home or at their office. If you have an interest in volunteering in any way or would like to hear more about EPH please reach out to Martha Bayer at 655-8360.
