The 11th Annual Mini conference which took place on October 27th, in Cerritos was an event full of education, great food and wonderful prizes. Thank you Vitu, Inc for sponsoring our Breakfast and AVRS, Inc for sponsoring our Lunch and to all those who donated prizes.
Our first speaker John Shoup of Comerica Bank brought information on fraud threats. We received lots of tips on how to keep our employees trained on fraud, counterfeit rings, and on altered and washed checks. We were told the top state getting hit by fraud and email scams is California. Mr. Shoup recommends we do the following: go to this website
www.ckfraud.org/ckfraud.html and run the report, also to join our local InfraGard chapter and keep training your staff on the threats because they are real.
Our second speaker Steve "Goldie" Goldman of Northwood University really entertained us with his insight on being a good manager. If you have never had the chance to take one of Goldie's classes or hear him speak you are really missing out.
He believes:
* It is all up to us "If it's going to be, it's up to me!".
* Having a P.M.A. (positive mental attitude) is a must.
* Keep your team learning and improving.
To end our day we had Jim Potts of Potts & Associates, who is always very informative on the hot issues facing us today.
We asked Jim to tell us what is going on, and boy did he. He talked on Retaliation claims, wage and hour claims, people on leave for a year or more, training, documentation, onboard policies and investigation write ups.
Jim just gave us the facts, not his opinions and boy were those facts informative and very impactful.
It was a day with so much education and lots of fun networking with fellow office and business managers.
Hope all who attended enjoined the day, like I did. We of the ADOMA Executive Board know everyone has their own life outside of work and we are so glad you chose to spend your day off with us. We also appreciate your opinion and suggestions. So please, take the short surveys below and tell us how we're doing and how we can improve on our 2019 Educational and Mini Conferences.
Hope to see you at a monthly meeting.
Aloha,
Allynn Magnolia
