Notes from the Nurse
Dear Parents,
New York State law mandates Cortland City School District to  require  a current physical exam, and   request  a dental certificate, for new entrant’s, and all students in Kindergarten and grades 1, 3,& 5.
New York State now requires your child’s healthcare provider complete Body Mass Index (BMI) information for reporting purposes.
If we do not receive a completed health exam form from your doctor your child will automatically be added to the group of exams scheduled to be completed by the schools Nurse Practitioner in this school year.  If you have any questions, please call the Health Office at 758-4134. Your physician may also fax the physical to 758-4139.

Give the Gift of Family Reading
The Family Reading Partnership of Cortland County invites you to take part in a book drive that provides families with NEW books to give to their children for the holidays.

Collected books will be distributed to Catholic Charities, Salvation Army, Loaves and Fishes so that families may select NEW books for their children. Books may be donated at any of the Cortland Enlarged City School District schools.

NEW books are due by November 30th! Thank you for supporting our worthy cause!
Thank You to the Virgil Fire Department
A huge "thank you" to the Virgil Fire Department Volunteers for teaching us about fire safety during an all-school meeting and experiencing the "Smoke Trailer."
Walking Trail
This fall, students have enjoyed starting their day with the tradition of walking on the Virgil Walking Trail. The Trail, is enjoyed by students daily every morning. Walking in the morning on a regular basis results in multiple health benefits both physical and mental/emotional well-being.
