A Look Ahead

Christopher, our Rector, will lead a presentation and discussion about what's ahead for Christ Church in the near term and the longer term.  There will be a chance for you to offer your thoughts, too, about what you would like to see happen in the future in our parish.

Cornerstone Sunday
We are grateful for your continued support of Christ Church. Please return your pledge card to the church by mail, or by bringing it to worship on Cornerstone Sunday, November 11. That day, all will be invited to walk forward as part of the offertory procession, and we'll place our pledge cards in a central basket. You may also pledge online on our website. (Online pledgers can participate in the Cornerstone Sunday procession too! Keep an eye out for "I pledge online" cards, available in church November 11.)

This candlelit, contemplative service will include readings, prayers, and silence interspersed with tuneful chants accompanied by violin. We offer the service of Taizé on the 2nd Sunday of every month at 5:30PM.
Looking to Make a Difference to Someone in Need This Christmas?
Tis the Season for Christmas Angels!

The Christ Church Christmas Angels Program is one of our largest and most important outreach ministries.  This year we will provide food, basic necessities and gifts for:
  • 110 families with little or no income
  •  55 low-income senior citizens, most living alone with no family
  • Over 150 residents of Episcopal agencies, like St. Leonard's Ministries, Grace House and Primo Center for Homeless Women and Children
  •  50 homeless men and women
  • Several families in desperate circumstances living here in New Trier Township
How Can You Help?
  • You can adopt a family
Sign up here online, or come to the Prevost Cloister after the 9:30 Sunday service to select a family.

  • You can donate funds
Click here to donate funds , or send a check to the Parish Office clearly labeled "Christmas Angels".  These funds will be used to cover the cost of gifts for senior citizens, Episcopal Agency residents, and New Trier families.

Wrap & Roll Caroling Party
December 2 - 4:00-6:00PM
It's (almost) that time of year! Mark your calendars and call your family and friends-the caroling party is around the corner. Thrown by the youth and parents of our congregation, we will wrap presents for the homeless, eat dinner (and Christmas cookies!) together, sing carols, and get a visit from St. Christopher-I mean St. Nicholas! It's a great time to celebrate with your church family and introduce your friends and relatives to our church community. There's a recommended donation of $15/person and $30 total per family, but no need to RSVP. The more the merrier, so save the date!
Christmas Pageant Sign-Up!
All children and youth are invited to join us for our Christmas Pageant to be performed Sunday, December 16 at the 9:30 service. Our beautiful and low-stress pageant requires no memorizing of lines, only one rehearsal for the older children, and no rehearsal at all for ages three through 2nd grade. We have roles to suit everyone: Mary, Joseph, Baby Jesus, angels, shepherds, sheep, and friendly beasts. Plus narrators, scene directors, and behind the scenes helpers. Costumes provided. Primary Choir and Third Grade Choir do not need to sign up, they automatically have a role.
Please sign up on our website or send an email with requested roles to  [email protected] or [email protected].

The youth are baking Christmas cookies
to send to our college students.
Families of college students, please send students address to [email protected] or fill out the online form. They will receive a package of Christmas cookies in time for finals!

Serve on the Altar: Acolyte
All 5th-12th graders are invited to sign up to acolyte - whether they have done it before, it's been a while, or they've never done it! We can train them anytime - even Sunday morning. Acolytes are lay worship leaders that guide the procession with a cross, carry the Gospel, and light the torches. It is a great way to participate in the service, see worship from a new perspective, and feel ownership and belonging in the community. Acolytes are recognized for their level of service with crosses and ribbons, which hang in the Acolyte Room by name. For more information or to sign up, visit our Acolyte webpage or email Megan Miller:   [email protected] .
Youth: Global Ministry Guest Speaker & Activity
John Robertson, who leads the Global Mission Committee on our vestry, will be joining us in the Youth Room after worship on Sunday, November 18. Learn about what you can do throughout the Advent season to contribute to Episcopal Relief & Development. Youth will make collection boxes and decide which "Gifts for Life" they would like to give. Plus - DONUTS!
Youth making Advent Candle Wreathes
After worship on Sunday, December 2, all 7th-12th graders are invited to the Youth Room to make an advent wreath. We will talk about the season of advent and our tradition of lighting candles, while making our own wreath. Join us and bring a friend! There will always be DONUTS!
