Principal's Corner
I could not be more pleased at the accreditation honor we have received through the Middle States Accreditation. Receiving both a school accreditation and a STEM Program of Distinction accreditation is truly an accomplishment I am extremely proud of. I am so proud of our teachers who work tirelessly to improve their own program and to stay alert to new effective practices. I am so proud of our staff members and teachers who make the school such a warm and inviting place where students can grow academically and spiritually. And I am so grateful to the community we serve for being so supportive and for choosing to educate your children in a Catholic school, more specifically, MTC. We will continue to thrive and improve in all we do #MTCExtraordinary

Art Club
Did you know that Mrs. Martello's Art Club is back? Middle School students in grades 6-8 meet on C days during study period. Students work in a studio environment to take their drawing skills to the next level. Many local private high schools offer Art Scholarships and this is a great way for students to enhance their drawing skills and build up their portfolios. During our first week students drew from direct observation using charcoal or chalk pastels.
Music Ensembles
Our music ensemble of Taylor Montgomery, Elizabeth Yates and Gabriel Petreez were honored to play at the wedding of MDP parish secretary, Mrs. Dugary's daughter. Mary Cait Dugary and Steven Stanoch tied the knot on Saturday, October 20 at MDP Parish and these students played both at mass as well as the reception at Greystone Hall. Congratulations to the newlyweds and thank you to our talented musicians who continue to delight us with their music.
Girls Enjoying Science

On Saturday, October 28th, five girls from MTC (Immacolata Capone, Isabella Cooper, Addie D’achille, Michelle John, and Sierra Martello) and their teacher Mrs.Gherca participated in the Philadelphia Area Girls Enjoying science program (P.A.G.E.S.). The P.A.G.E.S. program is dedicated to teaching young girls about other women pursuing scientific careers and how fun science can be. Mrs. Gherca states, “I am so proud of these five girls for taking time out of their weekend to learn.” The girls started their day listening to an empowering female industrial scientist talk about her career. Then, they were split into groups to do different science experiments including making ice-cream with liquid nitrogen, extracting strawberry DNA, covering a nickel with copper, making plastic out of milk, and making edible play-doh that can conduct electricity. When asked, Addie D’achille said, “I highly recommend this program and I loved the science experiments!” Hopefully MTC continues this tradition for years to come.

Girls Varsity Volleyball
The MDP Varsity Volleyball team are 2018 Region 21 Silver Division CHAMPS! They won both games with the score of the second game being 25-19. “I was really impressed by their teamwork and how serious some of the players were. I was on the edge of my seat and the coach knew exactly what she was doing. It was exciting and tense. I was having so much fun I couldn’t leave at the time I intended,” said Mrs. Dwinnell. These seventh and eighth grade girls worked hard and were determined to win the championship. “The win felt amazing because it was the first time in three years that we have won. We have come so far from fifth grade, when we could barely hit the ball, but now we are serving, spiking, bumping and setting like pros,” said Katrina Trimble, an eighth grader on the volleyball team. The game was held at Pope John Paul II High School and the MDP Panthers played St. Mary’s. The volleyball team swept the competition this weekend, and became champions! Congrats to MDP’s Varsity Volleyball team on their big win last Sunday!

Halloween Carnival
This month we had a lot of spooky fun activities for Halloween at MTC, such as the Halloween Carnival. The student council, along with our current 8th grade, ran game booths for all the grades to enjoy. Everyone came to school dressed in their costumes and got to play games and win awesome prizes. It took place in the gym on October 31st, during the school day. What a great way to celebrate this extra-ordinary holiday! The Halloween Carnival is a long running MTC tradition that students enjoy, " It was a scary good time!" said Katrina Trimble, a current 8th grade st udent.
