ORED's TechAdvance Team Hosts Inaugural Showcase Event at Zimmerli Art Museum

ORED's TechAdvance team, along with members of the Rutgers community, industry representatives, corporate partners, external reviewers, investors and donors joined together for the inaugural TechAdvance Showcase Event on October 23. Hosted at the Zimmerli Art Museum, the event provided valuable networking opportunities and an update on the program. The event also premiered a video featuring some TechAdvance-funded projects. TechAdvance provides grants to Rutgers researchers who have interesting technologies with true commercial potential to increase the probability of commercialization via licensing, creation of new startups, and industry partnerships. Since its inception, the program has granted 26 awards totaling $1.85 million.

New Jersey Tech Council to Host Tech Day - Nov. 8

Hosted at the Rutgers Student Center on the College Avenue Campus on Thursday, November 8, the NJTC's Tech Day brings industry leaders from AT&T, Lyft, PSEG, Facebook, and SAP Next-Gen to name a few on campus to discuss topics such as Smart Cities and the Internet of Things, acceleration, tech transfer, leveraging data, cybersecurity and quantum computing. Admission is free for students (with a university email) and Rutgers faculty/staff if they use the code "scarlet."  Register

Office of Advanced Research Computing to Host Exhibition Booth at SuperComputing Conference

Next week, the  Office of Advanced Research Computing (OARC)  will participate in the SuperComputing 2018 (SC18) Conference as a Research  Exhibitor, highlighting visual research of Rutgers faculty, staff, and students. In addition to hosting a booth (#4401) to meet and exchange ideas with  the world's leading experts in HPC, networking, storage, and analysis,  OARC will feature a live demonstration of the Eastern Regional Network (ERN) federation on the booth floor. Rutgers Shows Commitment to Protecting Research Participants by Initiating AAHRPP  Accreditation Process

Looking to validate and strengthen its protections for its research subjects, Rutgers University has initiated the accreditation process for the Association for the Accredit ation of Human Research Protection Programs (AAHRPP), an independent, non-profit accrediting body AAHRPP accreditation indicates that an organization follows rigorous standards for ethics, quality, and protections for human research.  In order to earn accreditation, organizations must provide tangible evidence of their commitment to scientifically and ethically sound research and to continuous improvement.  Learn more

Limited Submission Opportunities
The NIH Research Education Program (R25) supports research education activities in the mission areas of the NIH. The overarching goal of this National Institute of General Medical Sciences R25 program is to support educational activities that enhance the diversity of the biomedical, behavioral and clinical research workforce.  Pre-proposals must be submitted through Rutgers'  Limited Submission process . Application deadline: November 26, 2018.

NSF Releases Gen-4 Engineering Research Centers (ERC) Solicitation
The National Science Foundation's (NSF) Directorate for Engineering (ENG) has released a solicitation for  Gen-4 Engineering Research Centers (ERC) - Convergent Research and Innovation through Inclusive Partnerships and Workforce Development The ERC program supports convergent research that will lead to strong societal impact. Letters of Intent (LOI) are required and are due November 30, 2018.  Preliminary proposals are due January 16, 2019.  Learn more

Commercializing Understudied Proteins from the Illuminating the Druggable Genome Project (IDG)
The purpose of the IDG is to reveal the function of selected understudied proteins in the druggable genome. The goal of this funding opportunity announcement is to solicit applications from small business concerns (SBCs) to initiate early research ultimately leading to the commercialization of understudied proteins identified in the "Illuminating the Druggable Genome" project.
