The message below was written by our District Lay Leader, Jessica White, after she attended the Conference Leadership Team meeting at the Conference Center. It will remind you that our God is alive and well today!
Pastor Sherri and Pastor Dawn,
I wanted to share the God moment we at Attica Trinity Youth Group had because of you.
I was not going to take the extra food that you were initially offering everyone at the meeting on Saturday. I had the excuse of I did not drive, did not want to fill up someone else's car, etc.
But when you asked Dawn if she would like to take any home to her husband, there was a push (I now know that push was from the Holy Spirit) for me to see what was left over as the Attica Trinity Youth Group was serving a meal at Seneca Street UMC that very next day.
When you gave the macaroni and cheese, the rolls, the coffee cake, and the tomato/cucumber salad, I was thinking it would be nice to go with the lasagna we had planned to serve and if it was too much food, they could make use of it on Monday.
All I can say is God was (and always is) at work. We had more meals to serve than we had in the past as it was end of the month. Without the blessings of the leftovers from Saturday, there would not have been enough food to serve all that was at Seneca Street yesterday.
And it was a very biblical spiritual experience. The leftovers I took from conference lasted long enough for everyone there to have some. It was like the pans did not get empty until everyone came through for the meal. When all was served, there was none left over. It was truly a fish and loaves experience or manna from heaven.
What a way to remember how awesome a God we serve, when one may see something as leftovers, turn into God's blessings to feed more than I would have thought it would have.
While there was not any left over for the youth group to eat dinner there (we all had late lunch and were not the ones in need that night), God did not let those who needed it go hungry.
Thank you for being the tool that God used for this miracle to happen.
