A MESSAGE FROM MRS. STALLMANN
Happy beginning of November!

It’s hard to believe that we are starting our third month of school…and the end of school uniform shorts until spring.  If you did not see the Perpetual Rosary that we started in the school for Mrs. Radish and Mrs. Sokup, please look for that and prayerfully consider taking a day or two to pray the rosary with your family while lifting up our two teachers in prayer.

We are still looking for a long term substitute teacher for Mrs. Radish’s classes. Right now I am teaching Science to the 8th graders.  It’s been 16 years since I made lesson plans and I am having a ball planning and researching Science again.  It does create challenges in my other job as Principal but I am always up for the challenge. This time of year is a tough time to find long-term substitutes as most teachers found jobs in the summer and it’s not time yet for those new teachers that graduate in December. Please keep your ears and eyes open to anyone who is looking for a job in a school and has a love of science and religion.

We have been collecting $3 from our students to help the Tablesetters raise money to purchase turkeys for those less fortunate than ourselves. We are asking our students to “work” for that money by helping out with chores. As an incentive, we will offer a PJ wearing day (or sweats/flannel pants) on November 16 for those who participated. The last day to turn in money for this service project will be Tuesday, November 6.  With that being said we go right into our Thanksgiving Food Drive. This time of year can be really difficult for people between the colder weather, the start of winter, Thanksgiving and then Christmas time. We work with our students to recognize that these days are not always fun and games for everyone and we want to help try to make them better. Last year, St. Al’s School, Christian Formation families and the parish at large donated over 100 complete boxes for Thanksgiving meals to those in need. That is amazing to see our generosity and how we all come together for a great cause; and we know the need is even greater now. Thank you in advance for your donations to these wonderful service projects.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Stallmann

FROM OUR TABLESETTERS CLUB

We are extending our turkey fundraiser until Tuesday, Nov. 6th. We are asking for each student to do chores around the house to earn $3. The money earned will go to buy turkeys for the St. Alphonsus food pantry. We have already raised $600...that is half of our goal. If you would like to help out please send the money to your child's homeroom by Tuesday, Nov. 6th. Thank you to those who have already donated.

LADIES ANNUAL CHICAGO SHOPPING TRIP – Saturday, November 17 th
Join your friends on a Christmas shopping trip on a luxury coach bus to Chicago. The chartered bus leaves St. Al’s at 8:30am on 11/17 and returns to St. Al’s around 9:30pm. The morning commute includes mimosas and pastries and the evening ride includes a movie, wine and snacks. You are free to explore Chicago on your own with your daughters, mothers, sisters, or friends. The cost of the bus is $50/adult and $35/child.  Our bus was full but we’ve had a few cancellations and now have a six seats available. Luckily, our timing is perfect to attend  Chicago’s Annual Christkindlmarket @ Daley Plaza between Washington, Clark and Dearborn Streets .

The Christkindlmarket Chicago is an outdoor German market with German entertainment, shopping and food. The German Christmas festival is an enchanting and inviting holiday village nestled in the center of the city’s downtown. Inspired by the 16 th  century Christkindlesmarkt in Nuremberg, Germany, Christkindlmarket is well-known for its vendors’ high quality gifts and food, holiday cheer. I’ve also booked a private prohibition tour for those interested in a guided tour of Chicago’s sorted history during the prohibition era. This adult-only tour is an additional $45 and runs from 2:30-5:10 touring famous speakeasy’s around Chicago and sampling prohibition era drinks. Contact Kerri Singer at 414-817-1561 or text 414-405-1561 to book your spot.
