PHOENIX (AP) -- The first act of Madison Bumgarner's baseball career consisted of 11 hugely successful seasons that included three World Series titles with the San Francisco Giants. The 30-year-old left-handed pitcher believes his second act in Arizona can be just as memorable. The Diamondbacks finalized their $85 million, five-year contract with the 2014 World Series MVP on last Tuesday, announcing the deal and introducing their newest ace at Chase Field. "First and foremost, winning is what the whole decision was based on," Bumgarner said. "Being with a team, that in my mind, plays my brand of baseball. Plays the way I like to play." Bumgarner said Arizona was his "No. 1 place" when he talked with his agent about potential new destinations and said he "definitely left some money on the table" to come to the Diamondbacks. The North Carolina native said he's always enjoyed Arizona during spring training when he was with the Giants, and would usually rent a place in the Phoenix area where he could bring his family. Now he's looking forward to it being his second home. (Text courtesy AP; photo by Kenny Karst.)

I have a simple request, whether you live in the Bay Area or anyplace else in our country, I want the shirt off your back and the socks off your puppies. Over the past seven years I have been lucky enough to partner with St. Anthony Foundation and NBC Sports Bay Area in growing our
One Warm Shirt Program. This year we are adding the warmth of socks to grow the program.
We are collecting as many sweatshirts, hoodies, long sleeves, t-shirts and now athletic socks as possible to donate to the San Francisco community served by the St. Anthony Foundation. You are receiving this request because you donated in the past or might donate in the future and have always exhibited the spirit of philanthropic community-focused proactivity in helping others. This note is a reminder to either set aside items before the holidays take over for a follow-up communication or send to us now.
The distribution event will be a part of a post-holiday lunch served to the recipients on a February date in 2020, TBD
Please send what you have:
* New or gently used
* All sizes
* From the bottom of your drawer, storeroom, irregular pile, gym bag, attic or basement

The West Coast's Largest Drifting Festival returned over the
Weekend
Professional and Local Drifters competed during two full days of Tire-Shredding Action
SONOMA, Calif.
-- Professional and local drifters battled head-to-head as the West Coast's largest drifting festival returned to Sonoma Raceway for two days of high-speed action last weekend at Winter Jam, Dec. 21-22.
Winter Jam, hosted by Sonoma Drift, took over six locations around the facility, including two courses in the main paddock and courses at Turns 2-4, Turn 7, through the Esses of Turn 8 and around the hairpin at Turn 11 of the 12-turn road course.
More than 350 drivers burned rubber alongside some of the best drifters in the world during the weekend's event, which concluded the 2019 Sonoma Drift season. Drivers looked to outshine their competitors during several challenging competitions throughout the weekend, including Saturday's Team Tandem competition at Turn 11, where three drivers drifted side-by-side, coming mere inches from the wall and each other. The Team Tandem competition was a fan-favorite and has seen unexpected local talent shine in previous years. Sunday featured the Winter Jam competition located at Turn 7, in which the top-16 drivers competed for the 2019 Winter Jam crown.
A number of internationally acclaimed drifting professionals chased for points at the event, including Australia's Luke Fink and Lithuania's Aurimas "Odi" Bakchis. In addition, professional drifter and host of MotorTrend's show Drift This, Ryan Tuerck took to the track in his Toyota Racing 2019 Rear Wheel Drive Corolla Hatchback.
