Happy New Year!
I hope this message finds everyone settling into the new year. I want to take a minute to thank all of you for the work you have done for the Department clinically and academically over the last year. It is much appreciated.
In the coming year we have much to be excited about.
We have the implementation of
our new AFP agreement which I hope will go a long way to better support recruitment and retention and the work we do each day. I know it has not answered all of our issues or concerns; and as a department we will continue to advocate for the things that make our clinical and academic environments stronger for department members to continue to thrive.
Our new strategic plan will launch in 2020 and provide a framework to build greater success in our clinical and academic missions. It will focus on:
- all colleagues working together to build a stronger department.
- strengthening relationships with our partners in clinical and academic medicine to address the challenges we face and create new opportunities for research, education and clinical care.
I look forward to working with all of you in 2020. My door is always open to discuss new ideas, opportunities and any concerns you might have.
All the best,
Christine

"Her Last Project" - Dr. Shelly Sarwal
|
|
"This film is the extraordinary story of Dr. Shelly Sarwal, a physician from Halifax, Nova Scotia. Diagnosed with Multiple System Atrophy (MSA), an incurable disease, Shelly chose to undergo the recently legalized Medical Assistance in Dying (MAID) procedure and become an organ donor. As the first person in Nova Scotia to undergo this complicated medical journey, she dedicated the short time she had left on this earth to educate health professionals and the public about being in control of your death and creating a meaningful legacy through organ donation."
