Boys soccer team advances to IHSA Class 3A State playoffs this weekend!
Lake Park congratulates the 2018 Boys Varsity Soccer team who beat Streamwood High School on Tuesday night (1-0) to capture the IHSA Class 3A Super Sectional Title and advance to the
IHSA State Soccer Finals
this weekend at Hoffman Estates High School. This is the second trip to State competition in the history of the program with the Lancers last placing 4th in 2013. The Boys Soccer team is coached by Head Coach and Lancer-4-Life Sean Crosby and Assistant Coach Chris Fruehling.
Lake Park will face Naperville North on
Friday, November 2 at 5:00 p.m. in the semi-final game at Hoffman Estates High School. A win tonight will advance them to the 7:00 p.m. championship game on
Saturday, November 3. If the Lancers lose to Naperville North, the team will play in the 3rd place game on Saturday at 5:00 p.m.
Tickets for the IHSA State Soccer Finals are $6.00 for each game. Pre-sale tickets will not be sold at Lake Park, but
tickets can be purchased electronically. Make plans to get out to Hoffman Estates this weekend to cheer on the team as they earn their second IHSA State Trophy in program history! GO LANCERS!

Honorary "Lancer Way" Designation
New Honorary Lancer Way street signs installed on Bryn Mawr near West Campus.
In September, the Village of Roselle approved a resolution put forth for the honorary naming of "Lancer Way." The recently installed street signs are now visible to motorists and pedestrians at the corner of Bryn Mawr Avenue and West End Road.
Special thanks to Roselle Mayor Maglio, Roselle Village Administrator Jeff O'Dell, Legend the mascot, Superintendent Dr. Panega, Board President Barb Layer and Assistant Principal Dominic Manola for participating in the unveiling on
Wednesday, October 24.

Lake Park Report Card Now Available
School and district results are posted online.
This week the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) released the annual school report card. ISBE provides an interactive view of report cards for all public schools. View Lake Park's

Other highlights from the report card include that Lake Park's overall graduation rate is a robust 94% with an equally impressive freshmen on track rate of 93%. Furthermore, on average 49% of Lancers meet or exceed benchmark standards for English Language Arts (ELA) and math on the SAT. Both of these scores far exceed the statewide averages for ELA (37%) and math (34%). And finally, 80% of students enroll in postsecondary education upon graduation, a rate which also exceeds the state average (75%).
Lake Park teachers and administrators will review the data provided in the school report card to update its school improvement plan moving forward.

Lake Park has joined with School Communications Performance Evaluation (SCoPE)
to gain input about the District's communication efforts.
Through the survey results, Lake Park will learn whether people prefer receiving an email, seeing a post on social media, or reading about something in the local paper. The data will also help the District determine if it is
providing enough information about key topics and issues.
SCoPE Surveys are conducted online in a secure portal and take approximately 10 minutes to complete.
Participants can access the surveys on desktop and laptop computers as well
as most tablets and smart phones. Surveys are available in English, Spanish and Polish; participation is completely anonymous.

in the Lake Park High School East Campus Dice Auditorium.
This is the story of the Pazinski family living in their cramped, Buffalo apartment. The youngest child, Rudy, is a curious 12-year-old who's starting to question his Catholic school upbringing and the church itself. When Rudy goes against the ruler-wielding Sister Clarissa, all hell breaks loose. A warm and hilarious look at family, growing up, and God.

Bowl-A-Thon To Help Strike Out Reye's Syndrome
November 9 event marks 40 years of students raising funds and awareness.
More than 100 Lancers are ready to strike out Reye's Syndrome at the 40th annual Bowl-A-Thon to fight this deadly disease. S
ince the bowl-a-thon started in 1978, thousands of Lake Park students have participated to help fund public awareness campaigns for Reye's.
Students from Lake Park's Technical Student Organizations will bowl
on Friday, November 9
from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. to support the Northern Illinois Chapter of the
National Reye's Syndrome Foundation. To date students have raised more than $100,000 in donations since they first began supporting the bowl-a-thon more than four decades ago. This year students pledge to raise more than $4,000 in donations.
"Our students are ready to strike out Reye's Syndrome and promote awareness of this disease that mainly affects children and teenagers," says Kathleen Lovelace-Birk, Lake Park's Future Medical Professionals advisor. "The students and community help support Reye's local public-awareness campaigns, especially during the cold and flu season. It also gives the student organizations a great lesson in community service."

The Brunswick Zone, 1100 Lake St., will host the Bowl-A-Thon for Reye's Syndrome. The funds raised by DECA, the Family, Community, Career Leaders of America, Earth Club and Future Medical Professionals Club will fund educational programs to alert children, teenagers and parents of the warning signs of Reye's Syndrome, a deadly disease that strikes swiftly and can attack any child or adult without warning.

Last school year John challenged and motivated Lake Park freshmen and sophomores when he spoke about compassion and self-esteem during a student assembly. John is returning to inspire parents this year! He will share his message that touched the hearts of so many Lancers and address how to empower teens to become self-reliant, resilient and responsible citizens.
Reservations are not required. Babysitting services are not available.

SAT Test Prep Course Available Starting in January 2019
Registration deadline for junior students is Friday, December 7.
In preparation for the SAT test dates available next spring for juniors, Lake Park High School will offer a course beginning in
January 2019
to develop study skills to improve SAT scores. In addition to English, reading and mathematics preparation, the course emphasizes test-taking strategies and techniques. Students will gain insights to SAT testing situations, practice and remediation, and explanations to SAT questions and answer choices.
Students will be engaged in eight sessions and have two additional practice tests prior to the administration of the SAT at Lake Park on April 9, 2019. The course is offered on either Saturday mornings or weekdays (Tues/Wed/Thurs) after school. Registration with payment of $225 will be accepted until the
