It Takes a Village - of Veterans!
On the surface, a village of veterans looks just like any other town or neighborhood. There are men, women, children, and an occasional dog and cat. But for the hundreds of tenants who live in several of the local Veterans Village locales, it can mean the difference between living on the street or in a safe and homey apartment complex.

Become a Nevada Veterans Advocate!
The volunteers with the Nevada Veterans Advocate (NVA) program are passionate about helping veterans. They've not only completed a 20-hour online course and received certification, but many have been saying they wanted to do more! NDVS wants those NVA's to know, we heard you! So NDVS is now involving NVA's in community events to provide veteran outreach. We invite you to become an NVA and join in the fun.

Become a Patriot Employer!

The 100th Anniversary of the World War One Armistice
After the Balkan Wars, Europe was split, largely between The Ottoman Empire and the Turks. Many of the countries under Ottoman control were unhappy about the lack of reform and autonomy promised by the Ottoman Empire. They established the Balkan League to respond to this lack of reform. The Balkan League wished to join together into Yugoslavia. Archduke Franz Ferdinand, Heir Presumptive of Austria-Hungary, was responsible for military action, including the occupation of Bosnia and Herzergovina and Serbia, at this time. He was next in line for the throne.

The United States Marine Corps to Celebrate its
243rd Birthday November 10
The U.S. Marine Corps was formed as a security force, of sorts, serving as an infantry unit aboard naval vessels and responsible for protecting the ship's officers. This was sometimes so evident that the Marine's quarters would be positioned between the Officer's quarters and the rest of the ship - to serve as a buffer between them and the rest of the crew.
