Ingham Impact Podcast
Featuring Core Vocabulary
Our new Heartwood School Principal, Alexis Adams, helps us learn about CORE Vocabulary; it
is a small set of simple words, in any language, that are used frequently and across contexts. CORE makes up about 75% of what adults and children actually say. Our Heartwood staff have implemented CORE for the last two years with wonderful results. Great job, team! #InghamImpact

12th Annual Arts Advocacy Breakfast
Held at the Wharton Center
Join us at the Wharton Center on October 24 as we celebrate our twelfth year of working with educators across the region to integrate arts into core classes. Hear from individuals creating & implementing arts-integrated lessons in local K-12 classrooms. Watch a dynamic performance by the dance company, Soul Street Dance. The breakfast is free, the parking fee is $1.80/hr.

September 7, 1978, the Ingham Development Center, later to be named
Heartwood School, opened its doors to students. Today Heartwood School supports approximately 100 students, ages 3-26, with moderate and severe cognitive impairments, severe physical impairments and autism spectrum disorders. They will celebrate the 40th anniversary throughout the school year beginning with the
Fall Festival on October 18 from 5:00-7:30pm at the school. Please feel free to join us!

Early Childhood Services Office Relocates
Over the summer
Ingham ISD Early Childhood Services
relocated to 6520 Mercantile Way, Suite 1 & 2. This new location is close to the highway and easily accessible by families in need. We are holding an Open House on Tuesday, October 2, from 3:30 - 5:30 pm. Stop in and see our new location.
