October Students of the Month
Christopher Hale
Class of 2019

Secretary of Math Honor Society, Christopher Hale has had four memorable years at North Hunterdon. Since elementary school, math has always been Chris’ favorite subject. He enjoys solving math problems and studying the subject. Chris believes his teachers at North have an informal teaching style. This helps make his classes enjoyable more enjoyable. Chris has been a member of the Varsity Basketball Team since his sophomore year and a member of the Varsity Soccer Team since his junior year. He is an active member of Peer Leaders, Interact and Able, Superintendent's Student Advisory Committee, National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta (Math Honor Society), and Spanish Honor Society. Chris helps coach youth soccer and youth basketball during the summer months. He enjoys playing soccer in the off-season for BTSC Goalquest Roma. Chris’s favorite memories at North occurred in Mr. Yocum’s World History class last year. The class conducted a mock trial accusing Genghis Khan of crimes against humanity. The group Chris was in was given the difficult task of defending him, and was the lead defense attorney. The prosecution was lead by someone with whom he often competed in class with. Chris helped to facilitate his team in making sure all information they prepared for questioning and cross-examinations of witness would benefit their defense. The team was thoroughly prepared and did a tremendous amount of work. Their defense was successful. Chris enjoyed seeing the smiles on the faces of his teammates that came from both the joy of their victory and the satisfaction that all their hard work paid off. Next year, Chris will be attending a liberal arts college in the Northeast and plans to concentrate his studies in mathematics.
Sean Seibert
Class of 2019

Senior, Sean Seibert says his favorite class at North Hunterdon was Economics with Mr. McSweeney. Between the actual class and the teacher, Sean found something that thoroughly intrigued him. He found himself looking forward to the Economics every day and in the end, was glad he enrolled in the course. Sean is a member of the Varsity Football Team, National Honor Society, and National Science Honor Society. He is also a member of Weight Room where he earned the Hard Hat Award.

Outside of North, Sean helps coach the Jr. Lions weight room. He also works as a waiter and enjoys skiing and hiking. Sean’s favorite memory from North was playing and winning the State Championship in Football at Metlife Stadium.

Next year, Sean plans to major in Finance. He applied to and is waiting to hear back from Penn State and Northeastern.

5th Annual Running of the Lions 5K

A BIG THANK YOU to all runners, volunteers, and sponsors for coming out and supporting our 5K this year! Our new location for the race enticed over 460 runners and walkers to take part in this terrific community event.
We had 461 participants this year with:
25 Teams total
53 Staff registered
185 Students registered

NHHS Wrestling had 53 registrants - the most on any team and won a pizza party.

The cool, breezy weather did not deter participants as a large number of walk-in registrations occurred. Dr. Cottrell presented medals to the winners in all categories. We are happy to report that the number of runners grew once again this year! The 5K and our annual sponsorship drive raised over $14,000, which will go directly to providing educational opportunities for our students at North.   A special thank you to St. Luke’s Warren Campus for being our diamond sponsor for the third straight year!
NHEF-funded college trip to Monmouth University

Students had a great day on the college visit to Monmouth University in October. They attended an Admissions presentation then went on the campus tour. We hope that the experience was eye opening and enriching for all who took part! Thanks to the Guidance Department for accompanying North students on this college visit.
Please buy a discounted ticket to the NJ Devils for the February 17, 2019 game!
Every year, the NHEF is able to offer discounted Devils tickets to the North community. Proceeds from all tickets sold using our coupon code will benefit the foundation.

Every ticket purchased allows the NHEF to have a chance to win additional prizes with the biggest prize being the chance to win a deluxe box for a future Devils game! NHEF came in second last year in the competition among other New Jersey Education Foundations and won 4 tickets to a game, which was auctioned off at our spring fundraiser.

Ticket sales begin SOON! The game is against the Buffalo Sabres at 6pm on the Sunday of Presidents Weekend. It’s the perfect time to go to a game – no school on Monday! Please see our website at www.nhhsfoundation.org to purchase a ticket.
