Seasons give our lives rhythm. November marks autumn's end approaching and how simply the trees let go of the riches of a season. In addition to nature's seasons, the Catholic Church also celebrates liturgical seasons. All Saints and All Souls Days usher in November and remind us to reflect upon those great men and women of the Church who have gone before us as well as our family and friends who have touched our lives before entering eternal life themselves. Appropriately, Thanksgiving Day will arrive soon after, a time to pause and gives thanks for all God has bestowed on each of us.
At St. Paul, the seasons are changing, as well, as the first marking period comes to a close next Wednesday, the fall athletic season is winding down, we celebrated a beautiful Remembrance Mass yesterday, and give thanks every day for all the people God has brought together to make this faith community a truly special place.
While it appears the weather may not fully cooperate, this is our annual Homecoming Weekend! Halls were decorated last night. The first pep rally in the new gymnasium will be this afternoon, followed by tonight's semi-formal dance. There is a pre-game picnic and football game against Kennedy High School tomorrow afternoon. And the festivities don't end there. We look forward to our Forever Falcons Gala tomorrow night at the Aqua Turf Club, Southington. In addition to being our biggest fundraiser of the year, we will be inducting three deserving individuals, Roland Corbin, Tom Kulig '85 and Tom Peloquin '78 into our Circle of Honor. It promises to be another memorable weekend.
Good luck to the Girls' Swim team who are in action tonight at the NVL Championship at Kennedy High S
chool, to our Girls' Volleyball team (16-4) ranked #5 in Class S as they host a home CIAC tournament game for the first time in over ten years taking on University High School on this Monday, (11/5) afternoon and to our Boys' Soccer team (10-3-3) ranked #7 in Class S as they host Coventry High School in a home CIAC tournament game on Tuesday, (11/6) afternoon.
Grandparents are invited for a special program/prayer service and reception in their honor on Friday, November 9. They are a source of love and wisdom in our families and in our St. Paul community. We look forward to welcoming them on campus next week.
Our last Open House of the fall is scheduled for next Saturday, November 10 at 10:00 am. Our Placement Exam for the Class of 2023 and potential transfer students will be held on Saturday, November 17 at 8:00 am. Please encourage prospective students in your home town to consider St. Paul Catholic for their high school experience.
Mark your calendar to attend a performance of our fall drama production, "Penny Dreadfuls, a "fast-paced, comic play reminiscent of Dickens' Oliver Twist. As in Dickens' novel, all villains get their due." Performances are Friday, November 16 and Saturday, November 17 at 7:00 pm and Sunday, November 18 at 2:00 pm.
Our annual Mass of Thanksgiving will be celebrated at St. Gregory the Great Church on Wednesday, November 21 at 11:00 am. You're invited to join us for this beautiful holiday celebration. Truly, we have much to be thankful for at St. Paul!

Our St. Paul seniors are observing the days of
Halloween ("All Hallows' Eve"),
All
Saints Day, and All Souls Day, inaugurating November as the month of particular prayer for those who have died. On All Hallows' Eve, our seniors drafted the paper design of their senior quilt squares, each of which will memorialize a deceased love one or group.
During class on All Saints' Day (Nov. 1), following our Remembrance Mass, seniors visited the St. Paul Mary Garden, with a statue in memory of Sharon Mielcarz, to harvest marigold seeds at the end of one season and plant them in anticipation of the new life to come in spring, reflecting on St. Paul's words:
"So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown corruptible; it is raised incorruptible. [...] It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body" (1 Cor. 15:42, 44). On All Souls' Day (Nov. 2), seniors will take time during their regular chapel visit to pray for those who have died. Please join us in offering the traditional prayer for those who have died:
"Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord. / And let perpetual light shine upon them. / May they rest in peac
e. / Amen."
Get Ready to March for Life!
Student applications for St. Paul participation in the annual archdiocesan March for Life Pilgrimage (Jan. 17-18, 2019) will be available to students through their religion teachers next week. Completed applications will be due to Sister Marie Benedict Elliott, F.S.E.,
before Thanksgiving break (Wed., Nov. 21). Any applicant out of school that week should submit his or her application in advance. No money is due with the application. Students may also apply to represent St. Paul at a Students For Life of America training conference on Saturday, January 19 (

Election Day Busing
Students who live in Bristol/Forestville and who take the bus
The Bristol Public Schools do not have school on Election Day, but St Paul's does.
If your student normally is picked up at a neighborhood bus stop in the morning, please call First Student Bus Company at 860-584-2225 to find out the time they will be picked up on Election Day.
Please be prepared to tell First Student the student's name and normal morning bus route and stop.
Similar to how students are taken home in the afternoon, there will be one bus for students living in the Bristol Eastern part of town and one bus for students living in the Bristol Central part of town. Those two buses will be starting their routes at approximately 6:30 AM.
If your student takes the bus in the morning and is a walker to Bristol Eastern HS or Bristol Central HS, they should follow their normal routine.

Junior and Senior Parents:
In the upcoming weeks and through December, representatives from many colleges and universities will be visiting St. Paul during the school day to meet with our counselors and any interested students. Students can view the college visitation schedule in Naviance and are encouraged to sign up and attend some of these college meetings. Students must sign up in Naviance, complete, and return a permission to miss class form (available in the Counseling office) at least 24 hours prior to the visit in order to attend.

Athletics
XC - The St. Paul XC had a spectacular season. The boys and girls both finished the regular season with winning records and saved their best for the post season. The boys finished 5th @ the NVL Championship and 6th in the Class S State Meet and the girls placed 6th at NVL's and 11th at the Class S State Championship.
On the boys side Aidan Reilly was named to the All NVL Team and Jordan Rinaldi earned All NVL Iron Division honors.
On the girls side Kailyn Bielecki was named to the All NVL Team and with her strong finish at the Class S State Meet Kailyn qualified for the State Open Meet and made St. Paul proud, she placed 93rd out of 172 runners.
Girls Soccer wrapped up their regular season with a strong showing vs. Wolcott HS in the first round of the NVL Tournament. Catherine Ciampi and Addison Davis both earned All NVL Iron Division Honors.
Boys Soccer completed their regular season with a 10-3-3 record and 7th place ranking in the Class S standings. The boys advanced to the NVL semi-final and fell to eventual champion Watertown HS. The team with host Coventry in the 1st round of the Class S State Championship on Tuesday. All League honors were awarded to 3 members of the team, Adam Van Linter earned All NVL Team honors and Ethan Rembish and Stefan Zwolinski were both recognized with All NVL Iron Division honors.
The
Girls Swim team is in action tonight at the NVL Championship at Kennedy HS at 4:00pm - Good Luck Girls! And congratulations to freshman Adrianna Raymond who placed 10th at the NVL Dive Championship last night at Kennedy HS.
The
Girls Volleyball team finished the regular season with a 16-4 record and qualified for the state tournament for the first time in 10 years and for the first time since St. Paul has joined the NVL the girls hosted a 1st round league tournament game and advanced to the semi-finals before falling to Seymour. All League honors went out to Alexis Carabetta who was placed on the All NVL Team and Rebecca Nerbonne and Kelsi Blatchley earned All NVL Iron Division honors. The girls will host University H.S. on Monday at St. Paul at 4:30 for their 1st Round Class S State Tournament game.

Football team hosts Kennedy H.S. at 2:30 on Saturday for the homecoming game and their senior day!
