Winter 2018 - It's a Wrap!
The snow is starting to melt which means it is the end to another ski season. While it may not have been an epic snow year, it was a great season. We had a strong staff this year and lots of new and returning volunteers that provided great customer experiences for our clients. This winter we served the largest number of Injured Veterans that we have ever served through five separate camps, including our first ever VI Veterans Camp. We were also able to continue to see growth on our local Adaptive PE and All Access programs.
The other big accomplishment this year was STARS moved to an online registration system which means we are now open 24/7. Thanks to Lisa Evans recently named as STARS new Office Manager for all of her hard work this year getting this system up and running.
Each spring brings a new awaking and new opportunities for us to grow. I am really excited that Tim Nagel and Samantha Sykes have been brought on as Program Coordinators and Bailey Holland is moving into the office to take over our Client/ Donor Relations position. They each bring different strengths that will help us as we continue to grow this organization.
Finally, I am excited to share with everyone that we are finalizing our construction plans to build the STARS Ranch. Construction will begin this summer and phase 1 will be completed summer of 2019. The ranch will provide us overnight accommodations for our clients and camps in one concise location. This will allow us to offer increased opportunites for individuals to experience STARS life changing programs. This will also make STARS and Steamboat part of an elite group of adaptive programs that own their own lodge to support their programs.
Thanks again to everyone for your support of STARS. We hope to see you this summer at one of our programs or events.
