3rd Technology and Innovation Conference
On November 3rd, 2018, the U.S.-Russia Chamber of Commerce (the "USRCC") hosted its 3rd Annual Technology and Innovation Conference organized by the USRCC Technology and Innovation Committee. This Conference was held at the Petroleum Club of Houston, Downtown.
The event was "by invitation only" and f
ocused on some of the most current global technology trends in leading industries, such as oil and gas, healthcare and aerospace. Topics of this year's conference included Digital Deluge, Big Data, Blockchain and Robotics. T
he audience was represented by the l
eading experts and senior leaders in aerospace, heads of technology departments of some of the major oil and gas operators and service companies, real estate developers, heads of technology and engineering programs from various universities, representatives of venture capital firms and startup companies, and other business executives who were eager to learn more about the emerging and breakthrough technological innovations.
More than 70 attendees included vice presidents, chief officers, presidents, senior executives and technology leaders from NASA JSC Engineering, Tucana Engineering, TMK ISPCO, Baker Hughes, a GE Company, Halliburton, Emerson, ExxonMobil, Tudor Pickering & Holt, TAM International, Radix Engineering, Hess Corporation, Moss Adams, Saudi Aramco Ventures, GE, GHP, Total International Ventures

Welcome remarks were made by Joel Mastervich, Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, TMK IPSCO, who emphasized the rich agenda of the event and greeted the audience on behalf TMK ISPCO, Platinum Sponsor of the 3rd Technology and Innovation Conference.

constant changes, emphasized implementation of innovations in business, education, IT, public transportation, and other areas, Houston's future as a technology and innovation hub, risks of technology inflexibility, and provided his advice to the future business leaders.
The luncheon keynote presentation was followed by the "Blockchain" session.

Russian Railways and Gazprom may build most ambitious ever Arctic railway
Intellinews.com, October 29, 2018: Russian Railways (RZD) and state-owned gas monopolist
Gazprom could take on building what has been dubbed "the most ambitious railway project ever," a train line that cuts through the icy northern territories to Arctic port of Sabetta, Vedomosti daily reported on October 29 citing unnamed federal officials. As the share of the Arctic in Russian GDP reaches 10%, the government is considering re-launching Russia's most northern railway project that will cost almost $2bn, with the help of Gazprom and RZD. Negotiations are also being held with second-largest gas producer Novatek.

Shell Lifts Profit, Reinforcing Industry Strength
Wsj.com, November 1, 2018: Royal Dutch Shell PLC on Thursday reported a surge in profit and cash flow for the third quarter, capitalizing on stronger oil prices, though investors remained wary amid the recent period of oil-market turbulence. Shell said its quarterly profit on a current cost-of-supplies basis-a number similar to the net income that U.S. oil companies report-was $5.6 billion, up from $3.7 billion a year earlier. Still, on an adjusted basis, its results came in slightly below the company-provided analyst consensus.

Russian crude oil output hits post-Soviet record high in October

oil productionhas risen to a post-Soviet record high of 11.41 million barrels per day (bpd) so far in October, up from 11.36 mln bpd in September, an industry source familiar with the output data told Reuters on Wednesday. Russian oil output surged as the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and other large oil producers led by Russia agreed in June to ease production curbs and stick to levels of output outlined in a 2016 Vienna agreement.

Russia-Germany trade up by almost 25 percent - Kremlin
Rt.com, October 29, 2018: The volume of trade between Russia and Germany has been growing and reached US$39 billion in the first eight months of 2018, according to documents prepared by the Kremlin's press service. "In January-August 2018, Russian-German trade increased by 24 percent (adding $7.5 billion) compared with the same period in 2017," the document says, detailing that "Russian exports to Germany rose by 35 percent to $22.1 billion, while imports grew by 12 percent to $16.9 billion."

Russia-Latin America Business Forum events to be broadcast online by Roscongress

Ethiopian to connect Africa with Russia

Japan turns to Trans-Siberian Railway to test potential connection with Russia, China & S. Korea
Rt.com, October 30, 2018: Tokyo is planning to conduct a logistics test using the Russian Trans-Siberian Railway and a ferry line to join four countries, including Russia, China, Japan, and South Korea, a Japanese official said Tuesday. The major goal of the project is to create a new transportation corridor by including the Chinese province of Jilin to a ferry line that currently connects the Russian city of Vladivostok, South Korean Donghae, and Japan's Sakaiminato, according to Nogava Satoshi, vice governor of Japan's smallest prefecture, Tottori.

Further growth of industrial production is predicted in the Tyumen region
Admtyumen.ru, October 30, 2018: The socio-economic forecast of the region for 2019, 2020 and 2021 was considered at the meeting of the Governmental panel of the Tyumen region, chaired by Governor Alexander Moor. The forecast was provided by Olga Prostneva, Director of the regional Department for Economy. Describing the current situation in the regional economy, she noted that the manufacturing sector shows growth in 2018. The industrial production index of the Tyumen region for the period of January-September of this year reached 109.7% compared to the period of January-September 2017, the manufacturing production index reached 109.8%. The agricultural production index for the first half of 2018 was 103.0%.

Kazakhstan, Russia agree to use telemedicine, work on digitising health care

Россия в июле-октябре увеличит экспорт зерна на 17%
Finmarket.ru, 29 октября, 2018: Россия в июле-октябре экспортирует 20,23 млн тонн зерна, что на 17% больше, чем за соответствующий период прошлого года (17,29 млн тонн), прогнозируют эксперты аналитического центра АО "Русагротранс". Как заявил "Интерфаксу" руководитель центра Игорь Павенский, рост достигнут за счет пшеницы, экспорт которой составил 17,4 млн тонн, что на 29% (на 3,94 млн тонн) больше, чем годом ранее. В то же время экспорт ячменя снизился на 19%, до 2,07 млн тонн (2,55 млн тонн в прошлом году), кукурузы - сократился наполовину, до 0,6 млн тонн (1,2 млн тонн июле-октября в 2017 году).

Renault начал экспорт из России беспилотных роботов
