Applicable to: Mercy Care ACC, Mercy Care DD, Mercy Care Long Term Care, and Mercy Care RBHA
New guidance regarding the administration of COVID-19 vaccines has been received from AHCCCS in accordance with CMS.

CMS announced on Monday, March 15, 2021 that it is increasing Medicare rates for administration of COVID-19 vaccinations with dates of service on or after March 15, 2021. AHCCCS' December 1, 2020 state plan amendment #20-031 specifies that "COVID-19 vaccine administration will be paid at 100% of the national Medicare equivalent rates in effect at the time that the service is provided, without any geographic adjustment". Consistent with that authority, the AHCCCS Fee-For-Service Program and AHCCCS Contractors shall reimburse providers the following Medicare-equivalent rates for the COVID-19 vaccine administration fees by dates of service:

COVID-19 Vaccines administered with dates of service through March 14, 2021
  • Initial vaccine administration - $16.94
  • Second vaccine administration - $28.39
  • Single dose vaccine administration - $28.39

COVID-19 Vaccines administered with dates of service on or after March 15, 2021:
  • Initial vaccine administration - $40.00
  • Second vaccine administration - $40.00
  • Single dose vaccine administration - $40.00

AHCCCS will be issuing updated billing guidance and COVID FAQs with additional information.
