BOX TOPS CHALLENGE - THANKS!
Thanks to everyone who submitted Box Tops during the fall collection! The students who had the highest totals were Daniel Wietry, Keaton Shepherd and Owen Dembiec. They each received a gift card to Casa di Pizza.

Please keep clipping Box Tops! Our next challenge will end in February. Each Box Top you send in earns 10 cents for RIS.

RIS Yearbooks on Sale NOW!
The Roosevelt Intermediate School Yearbook is now on sale! Order online at www.jostensyearbooks.com .  Enter our school name in the search box and then choose “2019 Yearbook” to get started. The cost of one yearbook is $32.

The “Yearbook Recognition Ads” are for  8 th grade parents only . There will be a separate email explaining the details of the Recognition Ads. 

Roosevelt’s yearbook will cover the highlights of the 2018-2019 school year with hundreds of photos, club activities, school sports and special events. A yearbook is always special because it captures the life and times of the school, each class and the achievements of the students. 

The Roosevelt Yearbook is being produced by the Yearbook Club under the direction of Advisers Mrs. Friedman and Mrs. Urriola. Please do not hesitate to contact either one of them with any questions or concerns:

AROUND THE DISTRICT
Edison Fall Play - November 1st - 3rd
Edison Theater presents  Aladdin  on Thursday, November 1 at 4 pm and on Friday and Saturday, November 2 & 3 at 7 pm. Tickets are $8 pre-sale, $10 at the door, and $5 for the Nov 1 performance only. Available for purchase after 3 pm in the EIS lobby.
Palooza Contest Entries Wanted
The Westfield Municipal Alliance and Westfield High School Dream Team announce the 6 th  Annual Anti-Drug and Alcohol Poetry Palooza, inviting students in grades 6-8 to create an original poem with the theme “Westfield, We Have Better Things to Do: Healthy Choices, Everyday Choices.” Deadline is November 20. Details and entry form can be found  HERE .
Calling All Westfield High School Alumni
The Westfield Public School District invites graduates of WHS to visit the new  Alumni Outreach  section of the website to enter contact information in an electronic directory. The district also plans to publish an electronic newsletter to help alumni engage and connect with each other and with the school district. Send story ideas and questions to  mmcgann@westfieldnjk12.org .  Click  HERE  for more information.
Westfield STEM Night - November 13th
STEM Night will be held on Tuesday, November 13 from 6-7:30 p.m. at Edison Intermediate School.  Click  HERE  for more details on this fun and free evening full of hands-on activities for ages K to 8, sponsored by the Westfield PTC Gifted Education Committee.

As part of the Westfield Public School District’s new website, you’ll find a  Community Flyers  section under the  Family Resources  tab. Here you will find information about upcoming events sponsored by non-profit organizations in Westfield. We’ll also continue to alert you to these events in our newsletter and encourage you to click on the link provided for specific details.
Friends of the Westfield Memorial Library will hold its 8 th  Annual Children and Teen Book Sale. Sale Days are October 31 through November 3. Hours of operation and other details can be found  HERE .
Registration is open for Westfield In-Town Basketball and closes on November 23 at midnight. Register by November 2 to receive a discount. To register and for more information, click  HERE .
The Westfield Historical Society invites the public to a presentation by Ken Ward, president of the Historical Society of Elizabeth, as he discusses the Boudinot wedding of 1778. The presentation, which will include artifacts from the wedding, will be held at the Reeve House on Sunday, November 4 at 2 pm. Reservations are required; click  HERE  for more information.
As part of the Friends of Westfield Memorial Library Hale Speaker Series, longtime resident Carol Tener will give a talk on the “Architectural Gems in Westfield” on November 7 at 7 pm at the library.  Open to the public. Pre-registration required. Register online at  www.wmlnj.org  or call (908) 789-4090, ext 0.
The Westfield Conservation Center is teaming up with the non-profit organization Second Chance Toys to collect gently used plastic toys for children in need. Donations by Union County residents can be dropped off at the WCC at 1300 Lamberts Mill Road. Please click  HERE  for details.
