BPSB teachers, principal of the year announced for 2018-2019

The following is a release from the B eauregard Parish School Board:

DeRIDDER, La. - The Beauregard Parish School Board recently recognized those selected as Teachers of the Year and Principal of the Year for 2018-2019.
The 2018-2019 Beauregard Parish Middle School Principal of the Year, David Wentzel (center) of DeRidder Junior High School, is recognized by the board. Three district educators were selected as Beauregard Parish Teachers of the Year. The Teacher of the Year program is sponsored annually by the State Department of Education to recognize outstanding teachers at the elementary, junior high, and high school levels.
 
The teachers were introduced by their principals and presented a plaque at the September school board meeting in recognition of this honor.
 
Lisa Benoit of South Beauregard Upper Elementary was named the Beauregard Parish Elementary School Teacher of the Year, and Jennifer Galloway of DeRidder Junior High School was named the Beauregard Parish Middle School Teacher of the Year.
 
Joshua Beard of DeRidder High School was named the Beauregard Parish High School Teacher of the Year, and was selected as a semi-finalist in the state program.
 
The 2018-2019 Beauregard Parish Middle School Principal of the Year is David Wentzel of DeRidder Junior High School. He was presented a plaque by Superintendent Cooley and Board President David Vidrine in recognition of the honor.
 
The Louisiana Department of Education sponsors the Principal of the Year program each year to recognize outstanding principals from across the state.
