Hike to the Top: Hidden Springs
The City of Moreno Valley is hosting a free community hike to Hidden Springs on Saturday, September 29 as part of the Hikes to the Top program. The hike is approximately 3.5 miles round-trip and is rated “easy.”

Staff from the City’s Parks & Community Services Department will guide the hike.

The Hidden Springs trail consists of mostly level terrain with small sections of moderate incline. Trails are well maintained with no significant obstacles, but may be narrow in some places. The entire hike is on maintained trails.

Participants should wear comfortable clothing, athletic or hiking shoes, and bring a hat, sunscreen, and water. Dogs are welcome, but must be kept on-leash.

Participants should meet at Hidden Springs Elementary School at 7:30 a.m.

Garden Club Teaches Healthy Habits, Perseverance
Students in the City’s After School Education and Safety Program (ASES) are learning how healthy choices lead to healthy lifestyles.

At Honey Hollow Elementary, the program’s weekly Garden Club is teaching students much more than where food comes from and which foods are the healthiest choices.

Students are growing their own food in their own garden while learning about the plant life cycle, land plotting and the different kinds of plants.

While nurturing their plants, students are also learning important character traits, including patience, perseverance, and a willingness to try again.

We can’t wait to see the “fruits” of their labor!
Prepare Your Property Now for the Rainy Season
Now is the time for property owners to take the necessary precautions to avoid potential flooding issues before the rainy season.

Last week, the City mailed out notices reminding private property owners to keep drainages on their property free of obstructions, including trash, debris, vegetation overgrowth, which can prevent the flow of storm water. Obstructed drainages can cause flooding and overwhelm the City’s storm drains.

Maintaining drainage courses is critical to minimizing the potential of flooding.

Notices were only sent to property owners who have natural or artificially constructed water channels on their property.
