A message from Rabbi Silverman
People are sad. Some are tired or scared or anxious. Many of us are looking for hope and recognizing that there are no easy answers.
What we do have is each other. And the opportunity to come together this Shabbat, and in the days, weeks, and months ahead, to recommit to being a congregation, a community, and a country that does not lose hope, that is dedicated to fighting fear and hate, and that will bend the moral arc of the universe towards justice.
I look forward to seeing you for Shabbat. We will grow and do this work, as a congregation and in partnership with our many allies, together.

MOSES, Metropolitan Organizing Strategy Enabling Strength, is offering rides and assistance to individuals that are not able to get to polling locations on their own. Please reach out to them if you would like to volunteer or need transportation assistance on election day. They can be reached at 313-962-5290.

What's a Jew To Do? An Interactive Workshop
Sunday, November 4th, 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Isaac Agree Downtown Synagogue
Joining in partnership with NextGen, Repair The World, and Moishe House, this workshop will help us explore how implicit biases impact our self-perception, perception of the Jewish community and our attitudes towards others. By consciously reflecting on our unconscious biases, we can explore tools to adjust automatic patterns of thinking and reduce the impact of unintentional discriminatory attitudes and behaviors. This workshop will be led by Yehudah Webster.
Shabbasana Yoga
Saturday, November 17th, 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Isaac Agree Downtown Synagogue
Join us Saturday morning for a restorative and calming Shabbat yoga class led by Emilie Kahn. This class will offer an opportunity to stretch and breathe, as we observe Shabbat through movement and meditation.
JTot Challah Baking Event
Sunday, November 18th, 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Isaac Agree Downtown Synagogue
Baking challah with your children is a wonderful way to incorporate your Jewish identity into your baking traditions. Join us as Emily Shira Levine, a member who loves to cook in her free time, teaches JTot families how to bake challah. Emily will teach you how to make challah from start to finish, as well as share tips for engaging children in the baking process and making it an activity for families to do together.
This event is open to children of any age, even newborns! We encourage there to be an adult to child ratio of 1:1. Grandparents, aunts, uncles, and parents are welcome!

Second Annual Motown Lip Sync Battle
Saturday, December 1st, 7:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.
BCTC, 8801 Woodward Avenue, Detroit MI
Join us in partnership with Bethel Community Transformation Center for our Second Annual Motown Lip Sync Battle! We are going to celebrate our shared love of Motown music in the city that started it all. Our communities will form collaborative teams, with each team performing 4-5 songs. | Call for Mi Shebeirach
During our Shabbat morning worship, we read the names of people in our community who are in need of healing. As we invoke God's blessing, we also become more aware of the people who could use a little extra care. Please let us know if you would like us to read the name of a loved one.

Help Us Cook!
We're always seeking volunteers to help us in the kitchen! We pride ourselves on our delicious home cooked Shabbat meals. If you want to contribute to the synagogue by cooking, please contact our Kitchen Coodinator to get on the schedule.
Clean House!
As we work to clean up and clear out in our Synagogue, we ask your cooperation. If you notice a spill, please wipe it up. If you drop crumbs, please clean them up. If you use the kitchen, please clean up. If you have extra papers or handouts, please take them home to recycle them. Just a reminder: please no food or drinks (other than water) are allowed on the 2nd floor. As we continue to create our welcoming communal home, please help us to keep it inviting. As the saying goes, "it takes a village."

Shabbat services every Friday night at 7:00 pm
Rabbi Silverman leads services the first and second Fridays of every month
Liven up your weekly routine by joining us to welcome Shabbat. In the midst of busy schedules and tantalizing local events, Friday nights at IADS remain a signature weekly rhythm. Whether you have joy you wish to share in song or you are feeling in the mood to just be quietly present, we have a place reserved just for you. Services at 7:00 pm followed by a deliciously prepared Kosher vegetarian dinner. End your hectic work week with
ruach and community.
Torah study (before Saturday services) at 9:00 am
Shabbat services every Saturday morning at 10:00 am

Where would Jews be without the Torah? Torah is the center of our Saturday Shabbat service. It is a mitzvah to make a
minyan so we can read the Torah and people can say
kaddish. Please come to the Saturday morning Shabbat service at 10:00. We want to pass the Torah
l'dor vador.
