September 27, 2018

Dear Parents,

We are very excited about our First Leopard Live tomorrow by wearing our school-wide Leopard shirt. It will be awesome to see a sea of red for our audience, and we will have a special treat by having the LHS JV cheerleaders coming to kick off our assembly.  This is an opportunity for us to celebrate and recognize our student's success demonstrating strong character and leadership. We will be recognizing two students from each class for the character trait of respect and two students from each class for being Leopard Leaders.
If you are planning to attend Leopard Live, please plan to arrive EARLY!  We will have new check in procedures, and we have worked very hard to plan ahead, but for this first time, it may take a little longer to accommodate everyone.  We will open at 7:20 a.m. to start accommodating the checking in process. You will also need to check out before you leave. Thank you in advance for your patience as we implement our new system to improve the safety for our big events.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at anytime.

All My Best,
Wendy Craft

PTA Reflections
Heroes don't always wear capes! The National PTA Reflections program encourages students of all ages and abilities to explore and be involved in the arts. Through the program, National PTA, Lovejoy Local and Council PTAs, and PTAs across the country urge students in preschool through grade 12 to create and submit original works. This year's contest theme is "Heroes Around Me".  We hope all Leopards will submit an entry in one or more of the following categories: Dance Choreography, Literature, Film Production, Photography, Visual Arts, and Music Composition - reflecting on the specific theme. There is a special artist division option for students with disabilities to ensure all students have the opportunity to participate in the program. Students are recognized each year for their artistic ingenuity to bring the theme to life in a way that is personal and meaningful. The deadline is Friday, November 2nd.  Please contact Lindsay Thomas with questions.

Talent Show: The Healthy Selfie Showcase!
It's time to start thinking of planning and preparing for Lovejoy's annual talent show! This year we are excited to showcase our students' talents as a culmination of our Red Ribbon Week celebration on Thursday, October 25. Since we know that in order to master a talent or skill, you need a healthy, drug free mind and body, we can't think of a better way to end the week than to show what our students can do when they commit to living a healthy drug free life! Our theme for Red Ribbon Week is, "I Love My Drug Free Selfie!" and to go along with that theme, our talent show will be called the "Healthy Selfie Showcase!" We are requesting that all acts relate to or align with that theme and demonstrate how students' "healthy selfies" allow them to perform special talents and skills at their highest level. Talent Show registration will be completed online this year.
Please click here to access the Talent Show rules and guidelines.  The online registration form can be found here .  Music may be emailed to Wendy Hebert or submitted to this Google Drive .   We can't wait to see what incredible talents our little leopards bring to our Healthy Selfie Showcase!

"As an incoming senior, I have selected a project that is close to my heart. There is a "Toy Closet" at the Cancer Hospital from which patients can choose an item to help during their stay. I want to stock the Closet with as many toys as possible.  In order to purchase toys for the closet, donation bins will be placed at each of the schools and the red building. These bins will be collecting gently used Lovejoy Spirit Wear. Once collected, the spirit wear will be sold and the money used to buy Toys for the Closet. The toys will be donated in memory of Walker Jack Rainey. I can be reached at [email protected] with any comments or questions. Thank you for your generosity."
