Superintendent's Letter

"Last weekend we witnessed the deadliest attack on the American Jewish community in our country's history," Superintendent McPhetridge writes in his November Letter to the Community. "It was a shocking act of violence and a shocking wake-up call about the power and threat of hate speech." You can read his full letter and find links to resources for talking about this tragedy at home and in the classroom here.
Enrollment Season Opens This Month

We have lots of important news about enrolling for the 2019-20 school year! Please check this link for information about the kindergarten schedule, and dates for information nights, tours, and applications for all grades.

Office Manager Costumes for Charity

This week hundreds of students and staff members dressed up for Halloween at our school sites. But one AUSD office manager dresses up many times a year - and she does it for a cause. The details are here!

Fall Sports Update

Both the Hornets and the Jets have had some remarkable wins during this fall sports season, and they're still competing! Read our update here to learn about their successes and when you can catch the championship games!
Dress Code Survey

In July 2018 the Board of Education approved changes to AUSD's student dress code policy. This followed a process catalyzed by a group of middle school students and their teacher who advocated for change first at their school site and then district wide.

Now that the revised dress code has been in effect for three months, we are surveying students, staff, and families to see how it's working. The parent/guardian survey is here. The  student survey is here. The staff survey will be sent in a separate email. Please do take the survey to help us understand how the dress code is working and what adjustments it might need!

Please Don't Park on our Blacktops!

We know that parking is often scarce around our school sites. And we know that one "easy" solution to that scarcity is parking on our blacktops. But starting this month, parking will only be allowed in locations that are striped and designated for parking and driving. This is because a) parking and driving on our blacktops results in both cracks and engine fluid spots, which aren't safe for students and cost money to repair; and b) having cars driving across our blacktops poses a risk to students and other pedestrians. We know it's an inconvenience, but we've had several near accidents on our blacktops of late, and we don't want to have to pay for extra maintenance. Thank you!
