Dear St. Rose Families,

I hope you all had a wonderful Fourth of July! As we continue to move through summer, I want to provide you with some updates regarding our plans for this fall.

We had many staff members move on at the completion of last school year. Some of your children had the opportunity to meet their new teachers during Move Up Day, while others finished out the year without knowing who their teacher would be for next year. I am excited to share that we have found some amazing new teachers for our openings:

  • Miss Shelly Heaps will be stepping into the 3rd grade role. I am excited for her to share her pure joy and faith with our students.
  • Miss Mary Jane Holt will be taking over the 4th grade position. Her love for learning and her experience will be a welcome addition to our elementary staff.
  • Mrs. Sara Stub will be teaching the 5th grade next year. The passion and excitement she exudes for life and learning will provide such a quality environment for our fifth graders.
  • Finally, Miss Megan Rosencranz will take on both math and science in the Middle School. I am thrilled for Megan to share all things science with the middle schoolers and really push them towards excellence in math.

We were truly blessed with such a great applicant pool over the last few months and know that these new teachers will be wonderful assets to our school community!

As stated in my earlier email, we are still moving forward with in-person instruction to start the 2020-21 school year. Currently, seating mandates require six feet between each seated student, and our teachers are working on new classroom arrangements to allow for this. A change from my last update is that students can choose to wear a mask or a face shield in the classroom. If your child is still struggling with wearing a mask, a face shield may be much more comfortable. If your family is planning for on campus in-person instruction, a face mask or face shield is required.

The other option for the fall is online distance learning. If your family chooses this option, we want you to know it will be organized differently than it was for the spring term. We are currently looking into installing cameras that will provide a "live" teaching component so that students can be a part of the classroom experience when at home. Students opting for distance learning will use the Google Classroom platform to receive and turn in assignments.

For planning purposes, please take a moment to fill out this one-question survey for us. Your feedback is highly valuable and will greatly help as we continue making preparations for fall.  I will send the same survey out for the next few updates in order to get a general feeling for how many families are thinking of coming back in person and how many are feeling more comfortable with staying at home to start the school year.

Thank you so much for your continued support of our school community. If you have any questions, comments or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me.

With gratitude,
Kristin Silva
