After All This Time
On August 22nd, 2018 Chamber Ambassadors, Board Members, and many other community supporters held a Ribbon Cutting for the new  City of Sault Ste. Marie, MI business  After All This Time . Owner  Rebecca Fegan  did the honors of cutting the ribbon with help from her son. After All This Time is located in Downtown Sault Ste Marie, MI and has an array of different Boutique items. You can even rent the store to host an event such as a shower or tea party! Congratulations Rebecca!
Lakerpalooza
On August Friday August 24th Office Manager Melissa Meehan spent the afternoon at Lakerpalooza passing out 300 Membership Directories to Lake Superior State University students. This is great exposure for our Chamber Members. We hope that the LSSU students turn to the Directory and use Chamber businesses when available throughout Sault Ste Marie and our surrounding areas.
Leadership Program
The Leadership Program Session for the month of August was the topic of the "Legal System" students started out the day by observing a court case within the 91st District Court Room followed by a briefing on the case from the 91st District Judge Eric Blubaugh and 50th Circuit Court Judge James Lambros. Students were also spoke to by Tina James-Court Administrator, Chief Judge, Sault Tribe-Honorable Jocelyn Fabry, Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Jen Obreiter, and even received a tour of the Court House including the Historic Bell Tower. Thank You to all of the speakers who took time out of their day to spend with the Leadership Students.

We here at the Sault Area Chamber of Commerce give a warm welcome to Kristi Harwood-Causley, Tim Ellis, and Sandra DePlonty who are our newest members of the Board of Directors.
Kristi Harwood-Causley is the owner of Harwood-Causley State Farm Insurance Agency located at 906 Ashmun St. here in Sault Ste Marie, MI. Kristi is very active within the community and can often be seen volunteering her time at the Hospice House, Girls on the Run, and Sault Boosters. She is a previous United Way of the EUP and Chippewa County Community Foundation Board Member. When asked why she was interested in serving as a board member for the Chamber of Commerce Kristi said she is looking, "to become more involved and aware of what is happening and offered in our community". We are glad to have you Kristi, Thank You!
Tim Ellis is a very familiar face to see out and about in Sault Ste Marie. Tim is always volunteering his time in the community and can often be seen with the Rotary Club, War Memorial Hospital, Downtown Development Authority, St. Josephs Church, and The Sault Events. He has recently taken a new role as the owner of Eagle 95.1 WUPN and we here at the Chamber of Commerce couldn't be happier for him. Tim has already been very involved with the Chamber of Commerce for quite some time serving as a Ambassador or a "Red Coat" as some may say. When asked why hes interested in serving as a Chamber Board Member he responded with, "Its another level of supporting and being involved in our community and helping to support local business. Thank You, Tim we are excited to have you!
Sandra (Sandy) DePlonty works at War Memorial Hospital here in Sault Ste Marie, MI as the Senior Director of Clinical Services. She has resided here in Chippewa County her entire life and has been involved volunteering within the community in several different areas. She has served on the United Way Committee at War Memorial Hospital, she has been involved with the sidewalk sales and flea market, Sandy served on the Hiawatha Skating Club board, she is very involved with the St.James Episcopal Church, and has even been seen at the annual city wide clean up. She has also sat on various committees and been involved with several different projects within War Memorial Hospital. When asked why she is interested in serving as a board member for the Sault Area Chamber of Commerce she responded with "I am interested in making Sault Ste Marie all that it can be. I want it to be a community that people want to visit and more importantly live in." Thank You Sandy for joining the board and we look forward to working with you.
