Here is an update of what is happening at
House of Prayer this week!
Worship This Sunday
So they took away the stone. And Jesus looked upward and said, "Father, I thank you for having heard me. I knew that you always hear me, but I have said this for the sake of the crowd standing here, so that they may believe that you sent me." When he had said this, he cried with a loud voice, "Lazarus, come out!" The dead man came out, his hands and feet bound with strips of cloth, and his face wrapped in a cloth. Jesus said to them, "Unbind him, and let him go." John 11:41-44

This Sunday we celebrate All Saints. This powerful worship service provides us all the opportunity to remember our loved ones who have died and be reminded of the promise of eternal life made possible by Christ. The story of Lazarus perfectly captures both the sting and loss of death as well as the power of the resurrection. Join us Sunday as we trace this saintly journey.
All Saint's Day
This Sunday, November 4, we celebrate "All Saints Day," a service where our Christian faith is as deeply and poignantly proclaimed as just about any other day of the year. Our theme this year is Poor Wayfaring Strangers - The Journey to Find Our Rest With God. Like most African-American Spirituals, many of which were created "in the fields" during the slavery period, Poor, Wayfaring Stranger has a mournful sound, yet speaks of the hope of "leaving earth and moving on to a better place". This tune is reprised in several forms throughout the All Saints service.
As always, we will commemorate each individual HOP saint who has "left earth and moved on to a better place" within the last year, as well as those young saints who have been baptized in that time. It will be a powerful and deeply spiritual worship experience, culminating in the triumph of the saints through faith in Christ with a exuberant chorus of "Alleluia!" on the sending hymn.

Thank You Painters!
Many thanks to everyone who helped paint at the Season's Park apartments last weekend as well as those who donated to Aeon (the nonprofit who owns the complex). It looked so much better with fresh paint and the residents who were home were very appreciative when they saw us working.
Be Sure to Vote!
We've been working hard at House of Prayer to be active and involved in our community. One important role we all play in that community work is to vote for the future leaders of our city, county, state, and country on November 6th. So please take time to research who will be on your ballot (both sides!) and answer any questions you have about how to vote. Then go and vote for all the leaders you think will carry out the values and vision you have for the future of our community! Here are some links that may help you:
