South Carolina's next General Election will be held November 6, 2018. Residents can access their sample ballot on www.scvotes.org. For your convenience, a copy of the sample ballot is provided here

Polling Location

Kiawah residents (District 9) can vote in person from 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. at the Municipal Center (4475 Betsy Kerrison Parkway). Photo ID is required.

Absentee Voting

All eligible voters have the opportunity to vote with an absentee ballot in the November 6 General Election and in the December 4 Municipal Election. Absentee ballots are available 30 days prior to an election. You may also vote absentee in person up until 5:00 p.m. on the day before the election. Town of Kiawah Municipal Election Candidates

The Kiawah Island Municipal Election will take place Tuesday, December 4, 2018. This election marks the sixteenth administration of the Town of Kiawah Island, which was incorporated on September 13, 1988. The terms of this administration will expire December 2020. Embankment Stabilization Project

The Town has contracted to install erosion controls on the Kiawah Island Par kway on the embankment between the bridge and the recreational parking spots. Construction has begun and will continue through the next 2-3 weeks during daylight hours. T here will be traffic control flaggers in place and sporadic traffic delays. Please allow yourself more time for travel. Please use caution around this area of the parkway as there may be construction vehicles and workers present.

Yard Debris Collection Reminders

Yard debris is considered material such as limbs, twigs, branches, leaves, grass clippings, mulch, shrubs, and palm fronds.

Tree branches cannot be larger than 4" in diameter and no longer than 4' (the exception being palm fronds).

Loose material such as leaves, twigs, grass clippings must be placed in paper bags as required by the Charleston County Landfill.

Yard Debris is collected on Thursdays island wide and must be placed at the curb by 7:00 a.m. to ensure collection. In addition, Carolina Waste will not rake or clean areas where debris is placed.

Material from a property owner's home must only be placed at the curb of your property.

It is illegal to place debris on an empty or undeveloped lot. Violators are subject to be fined.

Remember this service is for the removal of weekly yard debris that a homeowner would normally generate cleaning their yard. This service is not for yearly tree trimming or clearing of wooded areas or undeveloped lots.
