Christmas Stars
Fox Valley Memory Project is invited to the "Christmas Stars" preview performance on Wednesday, November 28 at 7:00 PM at the Xavier Fine Arts Theatre, 1600 W Prospect Ave, Appleton.
 
This spectacular, holiday-themed extravaganza celebrates the joy of the season with a mix of vocal performance, dance, and skits featuring holiday themes and music.

Concert for a Cause: A Smashing Success!
The choirs at Appleton North High School performed the 2nd Annual Concert for a Cause on October 16! The students selected Fox Valley Memory Project as the recipient of the proceeds generated from donations in lieu of admission. Concert for a Cause raised $2700.00 for Fox Valley Memory Project! We are extremely grateful to the students and families as well as to Mr. Aumann and Mrs. Putman for their dedication. 
Time to Sing!
On a Positive Note chorus will begin practicing on  Tuesday, November 6, 3:00-4:00 PM, at Thompson Center on Lourdes (2331 E. Lourdes Dr., Appleton, WI 54915). No choral experience or singing ability required! We welcome all who have a dementia and their care partners. Rehearsals are one hour every  Tuesday beginning  November 6 . The first performance is at St. Paul Elder Services on  Thursday, December 13 at 2:30 PM . The next holiday performance is  Monday, December 17 at 10:00 AM at the Building for Kids. We will be the program for SPARK on that day. We know schedules are busy so you do not need to attend all rehearsals or both performances. Come join us as you are able to do so and see how much fun we have singing together.
 
Celebrate with FVMP! 
The holiday season is on its way! The Memory Café at Atlas Coffee Mill on Thursday, December 20 will host its annual Christmas Party. Join us for a beautiful holiday performance by newVoices. We will also enjoy holiday goodies and conversation about family traditions of the season. We are looking forward to celebrating with everyone. Please note that the December Café schedule has some changes and cancellations due to the holiday season.
Memory Cafés
Memory Cafés welcome those experiencing early stage dementia, mild memory loss or cognitive impairment, as well as family and friends of those affected.  They are a great opportunity for lively discussions, information gathering, refreshments, camaraderie and creative fun! We have a gerontology professional available to answer questions and an enormous wealth of experience among participants to be shared. The Memory Loss Resource Center  welcomes those experiencing dementia, their care partners, family and friends. Get information and support in a warm and caring environment.  We look forward to meeting you.

   Memory Assessment Center
The Memory Loss Resource Center is a service offered by Fox Valley Memory Project. This service welcomes those experiencing a dementia, family and friends. Get information about our programs, memory loss educational materials, and learn of local resources available in the community. REACH  In-Home Caregiver Support
REACH (Resources for Enhancing Alzheimer's Caregiver Health) is a 6 month evidence-based in-home caregiver intervention program.  REACH supports the caregiver by addressing issues such as emotional well being, stress management, troubling behaviors, problem solving and self-care.   You may contact the Caregiver Coach, Heather Flick, directly at 920-997-8407 to find out more about this program. Join Us to Dine and Socialize
Fox Valley Memory Project strives to reduce social isolation in a stigma-free environment for care partners and their loved ones with memory loss. We help to facilitate opportunities to socialize.
 
The next social meetup has been set for Wednesday, December 19 at 4:30 PM in the private meeting room at Pizza Ranch, N139 Eisenhower Dr. in Appleton.  Come meet up with your Memory Project friends for a meal together and great conversation.

Free Educational Workshops Across the Fox Valley
Fox Valley Memory Project and Alzheimer's Association are partnering to present an educational series about dementia.  
 
"Caregiver Stress: Take Care of Yourself" with a special focus on the RCI - REACH program will be presented at 5:30 PM on Tuesday, November 27 at the Neenah Public Library, 240 E Wisconsin Ave and on Tuesday, December 11 at Prince of Peace Church, 2330 E Calumet St. in Appleton.

Valley VNA Senior Care Offers 
Lyrics & Laughter


 Research shows that music, especially with active participation, demonstrates physiological, emotional and social benefits to those with memory loss. Active participation stimulates the brain and also has some physical benefits. Music is a road to memories and helps those with dementia to engage and socialize in ways they normally cannot do.

The next series of "Lyrics & Laughter " begins on  Thursday, November 8.  You can choose between a morning session beginning at  9:30 AM or an afternoon session beginning at 1 PM .   Please call 920-727-5555 to make a reservation for this engaging program.   Click here  for more information. Celebrate Music with the Fox Valley Symphony Orchestra
Listen to the Americana Brass Quintet of Fox Valley Symphony Orchestra on Friday, November 9 at 3:30 PM for the next Senior Series concert at Eagle Point Senior Living, 955 E John Street in Appleton.  All Senior Series concerts are free and open to the public.   
SPARK!
SPARK! is a program for caregivers and loved ones living with memory loss.  The Trout Museum of Art (with a second program at St Paul Elder Service) and The Building for Kids Children's Museum are pleased to be among the Wisconsin museums awarded funding by Bader Philanthropies and the Community Foundation to create programming where participants engage in lively discussions, art making, and multi-sensory activities.

Each one-hour program is led by a specially trained museum educator who will engage participants in interactive exhibit experiences.  After each program, coffee and conversation is led by volunteers who give participants and caregivers the opportunity to support and socialize.

Memory Care Respite Partners
A monthly respite program is held on the 1st & 2nd Monday of each month at St Paul Lutheran Church in Neenah. This free program is staffed by professional caregivers and trained volunteers. Activities include music, organized arts, crafts and refreshments.
