Dear Families,
Happy All Saints' Day. If you have time, please come to our Saint Museum put on by our 7th and 8th graders today. It is from 9:30-11:00 in the gym.
A big thank you to Michelle Denis and Marissa Selthafner and all the volunteers who made Spooks and Spoofs such a wonderful event. I see first hand all the dedication and hard work that goes into transforming our school into the coolest Halloween party ever!
The first quarter of the school year ended yesterday. Sign-up Genius will be out next week for you to sign up for conferences. Conferences are Monday, November 19th from 4:00-8:00pm
(we do have school that day)
and Tuesday, November 20th from 7:30-11:30am. We are off Wednesday, Thursday and Friday for the Thanksgiving break.
Our 8th grade boys and girls (who play for St. Joe's) teams are on a winning streak at the Seton Volleyball Tournament. Come cheer them on. The girls play Thursday night at 5:30 on Court 4.
The boys play Friday night at 7:30 on Court 6. All games are played at Center Court in Waukesha.
Did you know that a portion of the proceeds from the Seton Volleyball Tournament are designated to be distributed to the Foundation for Religious Retirement and the Waukesha County Catholic Schools Tuition Assistance Fund? It is used to make Catholic school education a real possibility for those students who not otherwise be able to afford full tuition. Assistance in the form of $1,000 grants. Monies are given to the school and are credited to the family. Since the beginning of the Seton, over $85,000 in scholarships have been awarded to families.
The following link will provide you with more information and access to the application. Please know that to be considered, the application must be completed, signed by myself or Fr. Peter and received on or before April 1, 2019. If you have any questions. please don't hesitate to ask me.
Congratulations to the 7th grade boys! They tied for first place in the Cousins Division in the Metro Volleyball Conference.
We received an email from Go RiteWay, our bus company this week.
While reviewing recent records they found that there have been no disciplinary incident reports for St Mary's yet this year. There is only one other school in the entire district that can also make that claim! Way to go bus riders! It's a testimonial to the values and behavior that the kids are being taught at your school.
If you have any questions or concerns, please give me a call. I am happy to help.
Remember no school tomorrow! See you Monday.
Faithfully,
Mrs. Mary Tretow

SMV Christmas Concert Information
Any parents who are interested in painting the set for our Christmas show, Carol and the Belles, are invited to help on Monday, November 12th from 1:30 - 3:30 pm. Anyone is welcome, even if you are only able to be there for part of this time. Volunteers should check in with Mrs. Dries in the office. Please email Mrs. Kesler at skesler@stmaryeg.org if you are interested or if you have any questions. Thank you for considering and we hope to see you there!
Immunizations
Last year we had only 86.57% of students compliant with the immunization law. This is the lowest it has ever been. As of today, Tuesday, October 30, we still have 7 students who DO NOT have an immunization on record with the school and several who are behind schedule for their updates. As of December 31st if a student is not up to date with their immunizations, they will not be allowed back into school unless they have met the state's immunization requirements. It is so easy to obtain your child's records by going to this website
https://www.dhswir.org/PR/clientSearch.do?language=en .
Please inform the school office of any updates to your child's immunizations.
Picture Re-take Day
Picture re-take day has been scheduled for November 27.
Boots in the Classroom
Due to the cooler weather we wanted to remind parents that according to the handbook it states that boots above the ankle including, but not limited to, UGG boots may not be worn in the classroom at any time. Boots above the ankle may be worn outside and during recess only.
Playground and Lunchroom Duty
If you would like to make some extra money, all you have to do is extra playground or lunchroom duty. You will need to go to SignUp Genius and see if there are any days available-then sign up. It pays $25/time. It is given to everyone at the end of the school year or it is deducted from your tuition.
We are starting to have No-Shows at duty time. If you can not make it, please contact the school office. We do have people who are able to come in on short notice.
After School Coordinator Needed
St. Mary's Visitation Parish School is looking for a friendly, energetic person to work as our After School Care Coordinator. Resposibilities include supervising a support staff member, recording and maintaining usage records, monitoring students arrival and sign out, assisting with snack time and clean up, providing students with play materials, help with homework, and above all, making After School Care a fun place to be at the end of the school day.
The hours are 2:30-6:00 p.m. or until the last child leaves. We are open every day we have school.

Junior High Forensics:
We are looking for 2 more people to join Brigid Harmeyer on a team of 3 to lead our Forensics program and coach our students. We hope to be able to continue this program at SMV, but we need your support. Forensics is a wonderful opportunity for our students to practice public speaking, develop critical thinking skills, and gain confidence. Practices have typically occurred after school and meets occur at various public and private schools in the area on Friday afternoon/evenings and Saturdays in January and February. Please contact Rebecca Mindy or Brigid Harmeyer if you may be interested or have questions as you consider this opportunity.
In Appreciation Fund
The In Appreciation Fund is starting November 5th. Please check those backpacks on Monday. The form is being sent home. We will collect the money until December 7th. There is also a link here on the VB for the form in case yours gets misplaced. Lets thank our wonderful SMV staff for all they do for our children! Rebecca Mindy and Amy Van Ells
Home & School Volunteers
Thank you to our 4th Grade Families for hosting a wonderful Spooks & Spoofs and to the many, many volunteers that shared their time to continue this SMV Halloween tradition. It was such a fun party and we appreciate all of your hard work!!

Please meet this year's Home and School Board! Home and School is the fundraising arm of School Committee. These moms will be working very hard all year to make sure many, many events are successful and profitable! The money Home and School raises is used in school to fund initiatives such as technology upgrades, classroom upgrades, teacher funds, the art program and the maker space- many of the things that help make our school exemplary.
The volunteer hours these ladies will dedicate throughout the year is so appreciated! Thank you to Katy Conners and Kelly Krause (co- Presidents), Sue Olbrantz and Maria Dolores Parks (co- Vice Presidents), Alicia Braatz (Treasurer), Annie Bolger (Secretary) and Rebecca Mindy (Volunteer Coordinator).
And with that you will find a few things that are Positively SMV!
