Region Elects New Executive Minister

Rev. Dr. Sandra Hasenauer
|
On September 22, delegates elected Rev. Dr. Sandra L. DeMott Hasenauer as the Executive Minister of the Rochester Genesee Region of American Baptist Churches.
She will begin her new role on November 5th.
Dr. Hasenauer
considers her ministry to have been shaped significantly by her parents, Dr. Donald and Shirley DeMott, her home church, Lake Avenue Baptist Church in Rochester, NY, and her home region in ABCUSA, the Rochester/Genesee Region.

Retirement Celebration
First Baptist Church of Rochester was the setting for the retirement celebration of Executive Minister Rev. Alan G. Newton on Friday evening, September 21st. Guests from far and wide attended the celebration church service and many attested to the work that Rev. Newton accomplished during his sixteen years as Region Executive Minister. Best wishes to Alan as he begins the next chapter of his life.

Region Address 2018
From our founding as an Association it has been mandated that the person in leadership give an annual address to the region. In kind, the member churches of the region committed themselves to submit a similar reporting to one another.
I'll bet you thought that those Annual Reports were requested to please your Executive Minister. But in reality, they were a pattern of relationship established 80 years before ABCUSA was formed and 174 years before the General Board adopted the Common Criteria requiring Annual Reports.
When the American Baptist Historical Society was located here in Rochester, I often would go there and read through the reports, which read more like stories than anything else. Read more.

Retirement Announcement
It is with ambivalence that Rev. Dr. Vera E. Miller has announced her retirement for
January 6, 2019.
Genesee Baptist called Dr. Miller to their pulpit on the same date 23 years ago.
Please join together in wishing Dr. Miller prayers and blessings during her final months of ministry in the region.
