Dear Lincoln School Families,

It was wonderful seeing so many of our students return back to in-person instruction this week. The students are so excited to be back! It’s very heartwarming to see their smiles each and every day.

Since we have 85 % of our students back in the building I would like to remind you of the below guidelines.
  • There is no hybrid model so if you chose to have your child receive in-person instruction five days a week then they are expected to be here in person every day. If your child is not feeling well, please contact the main office and then your child may participate online for that day. It has to be an illness for them to do so or a valid injury would also be excused. The other exception to this rule is if your child has to quarantine.

  • To allow for social distancing for arrival as well as dismissal it is extremely important that you adhere to the procedures in place. Our doors will be open at 8:15 a.m. Your children must be in their classroom prior to 8:30 a.m. If you drop your child off at 8:30 a.m. or after you must escort your child to the front door. Please ring the buzzer and someone will help you. It is very important that your child arrives at school on time. If your child arrives at 8:30 a.m. or after they will be marked tardy.

  • In order to help move the traffic as quickly as possible during arrival please have your child ready to get out of your vehicle as quickly as possible. In order for this to happen, it would be helpful to have their mask on, backpack next to them, etc. It truly is a drop and go. There will be staff stationed at every door to assist your child as they enter the building.

  • After you have picked up your child at dismissal and are traveling down Keller Avenue please make a right hand turn only. This is to help with the flow of traffic.

  • The one section of the sidewalk on Keller Avenue is closed. Please do not walk on it or the road adjacent to the sidewalk. For safety reasons you need to walk down the sidewalk on the opposite side and then use the crosswalk at the intersection of Keller and Central Avenue.

  • Please be sure your child brings in a light snack each day as well as something to drink.
Pomptonian, the District’s Food Service, shared a recent edition of their Nutrition News with me. In this particular edition award-winning pediatrician, author and keynote speaker, Dr. Jill Garripoli Pedalino. Dr. Jill and Pomptonian’s Corporate Dietitian, Toni Bowman discuss “How to Incorporate Screen Time into a Healthy Lifestyle.” Please see the below link to access this video. You can also view previous editions of Nutrition News! via the second below link. I hope you find this information to be helpful.

Ms. Stein recently applied for a Wilson Foundation Grant. I am thrilled to announce that due to her efforts with the grant the District was awarded $2,500 to help create a makerspace in Lincoln for the 21-22 School Year. This is so exciting! I am sure our students are going to truly love the makerspace while engaging in lessons taught by Ms. Stein.

While we all work together to improve the attendance of our students through our district-wide initiative, Every Day Counts!, Mr. Waxman and I are going to take part in a contest called “Pie the Principal”. Our hope is that this will encourage our students to attend school every day. The concept is simple. The school with the best attendance rate starting next week through the end of April will have the honor of throwing a pie at the other school’s principal! Please see the flyer for more information.
As always, stay safe and healthy.

Regards,
Milissa Dachisen
